So you have first hand experience of the OB problems? or are just annoyed because we are discussing the truth as it affects us all and that makes you grumpy because it is not all sweetness and love?

There is always a risk as the organiser of a party of losing all their equipment and ending up in jail – would you rather we pretended that this was not the case?

I’m sure there are major clampdowns goin on. I am not “grumpy because it is not all sweetness and love”, l just think petitions should be applauded, as they don’t take much effort to sign. As l said, if you don’t want democracy you won’t get it!

I want democracy yes, but I am not going to pretend we dont live in what is rapidly sliding into a police state with fear mongerers using ‘terrorism’ as an excuse to remove our civil liberties and monitor us in as many ways as possible.

this one>> http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/negociation/ is quite sensibly written and I’ve signed it

this one>>> http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/LegaliseRaves/ is just poorly spelt babble and isn’t asking for anything that isn’t already within the law

Yes I had signed the top one too btw Space Master :groucho:

One thing l don’t like about the petitions is the atrocious spelling, even on the one you liked (top URL), where “negotiation” is mispelt. A bloke on £100k p.a. will be irritated at being confronted by stuff like that. If anyone wants a petition proofread, they are welcome to post the details on here first and leave it open for ppl to give spelling suggestions or even content suggestions.

Anyway, l do apologise if l seemed a bit flippant with the “yamping remarks”, l was just trying to wake ppl up after the SJ caper over the past few days xoxoxox

its got good intentions, but what the fuck is it gunna do?

what the fuck is anythin other than a full-scale riot gunna do to make the govt. take notice about any issue anymore?

and i dont trust what they do with the names n shit.

fair enough tho, i aint criticisin just questionin.

I see what you mean about spelling, but the first petition is actually written by someone whose first language is French.. (this is why raj and globalloon found it easier to make sense of it, as they know a bit of French)

I may even know who wrote it and have been raving with him and his friends before.. :groucho:

he is aiming for the French approach to free parties, which I mentioned in a previous post and isn’t entirely dissimilar from the TENS system in operation here (but with less bureaucracy).

Yeah – sorry but now that you have mentioned it I see what you mean… I hadnt noticed

No-one with a brain trusts the government either now or at any other point in history. One common thread for all governments is that they eventually all implode, massively. However we can’t all just rollover in fear because surveilance technology has advanced so much in the last few years. I personally think the gov has bitten off more than they can chew, and will soon be so overwhelmed with peoples personal info that it will be impossible to keep track. Can you imagine the sheer weight of infromation they already must have on every Muslim who went into a mosque? And this info gathering isnt just national. They have details of how many times some poor git in Pakistan goes to the toilet a day.

If you want to judge the efectiveness of police just look at how crap they are at stopping illegal websites or credit card fraud, or even a finding a plain stolen car. Judging by the number of people who were going raving 15-20 years ago my hope is that someone in number 10 maybe attended and has a soft spot, and the only way of making them take notice is to show them we are still alive and kicking. Obviously the best way would be for thouands of us to try to get to something every weekend, but it’s so secretive now that from what I’ve seen a lot of parties are little more that private dos. I agree with

Even if we had “tolerated rave areas”, there would be the issue of stopping the more financially motivated drug dealing networks from taking over control of these events, perhaps with violence

but we can’t give up. This has wider implications regarding this countries outdated drug laws. We are battling on lots of fronts. There is now a whole generation of people who think V festival is the be all and end all. Mention Free Festival to them and they haven’t got a clue, or run in fear because of government propaganda. As long as we operate within the law it doesn’t matter what info they have on us,

    Well said!

“Fear has big eyes” (Russian proverb).

Nature is far mightier than mankind, and nature has its own way of sorting things out, eventually.

Also, it’s quite plain that these things time their rise and fall by astrology. So the good times are inevitable, and the bad times are inevitable, and the good times returning are inevitable.
