so its not a free party….

its a club night that usually charges a tenna or whatever doin one withouit chargin.
they’ll make their money over the bar…..

I thought i’d throw my tuppence worth in as I did the flyer…

I can understand Dave getting protective about what he might see as the evils of “The Man” ripping off a scene he loves – but its not really like that and many of those involved have been playing & supporting free parties since the early 90s

There’s not much point getting into a “club v outside” debate as everyone’s got their own views -and the old chest nut of whether a free party means “no cash” or “freedom” has run and run on many an internet board… so I’ll leave it for another day…

In reply to some of Dave’s main points – Zogg normally hires the club and so doesnt make any money off the bar and wont be doing so on Friday. The venue had a free date and as it summer we’d normally be quiet – so doing it a free party keep the venue happy (as they’ll sell lots of drinks) and Zogg will do a busy party at a normally quiet time of year – and hopefully party goers get a good knees up for free – so everyone gets something out of it…

(BTW The normal Zogg admission price (£8/10 or a fiver in adv) just about covers cost of venue hire/publicity/Djs/live acts/performers/decor and sadly no one will ever be able to retire to the bahamas on the proceedings!)

they can promote it as a free party, and use a pic of my mates land rover at sheffstock on the flier, but its still a club night.

VP is a mate of mine as well and the pic was taken as Dil Zogg was playing (on his & Gordies rig if i remember correctly) at the first Shefstock. If anyone was paying attention (and was really techno!) – they have noticed the piss take of the liberators CD (Its not intelligent etc) making very clear it was not outside or the arches – but still hopefully ‘aving it!

Anyway… after all that waffle… the party is what it is… its an allnighter party in a good & relaxed club and its free… so if you’d prefer not to go – no probs – I’ll see you in a field somewhere this summer.. but if you fancy a night out – we’ll see you on Friday!

    🙂

If I was posting the event – I’d probably have put it in the events section – but anyway – it’s here now… (though it is “free” and it is a “party”..)

If anyone had actully been to any of our events at Plug – they’d be able to tell you that the club & security are pretty relaxed and we dont get loads of twats – in fact its probably one of the friendliest crowds you’ll get..

Anyway – I’m not going to change anyone’s mind who doesnt like clubs full stop – so there’s no much point getting into the arguments

…though it has been entertaining seeing just how far folk have got wound up!

    🙂

its another club night pretending to have a ‘free party vibe’ and its abit of a ‘fuck you’ to the real free party organisers!

Planet zogg is one of the only nights in Sheff that is left unspoilt by dickheads, pissheads or surly bouncers…coz there is never ever any trouble so the bouncers dont bother us….

all due Respect to the Zogg crew for being such up-for-it and freindly people..always a good party and atmosphere !!!!
Its been a while and i know quite a few who can’t wait for tomorrow night when we take over Plug !!!raaa:bounce_fl
    Bling it onn…………………………………………………………………………………..:crazy_dru

Think what you like mate – most of the DJs & acts tomorrow have been playing at free parties for a long long time and put a lot into the party scene over the years (ask anyone who’s been partying round sheffield for more than a few years) but if you take putting on a night for free with a decent line as a fuck you – then fair enough – I’m sure you’re more techno than us all.

Good luck with your parties and I hope you have a more postive attitude towards them.

firstly, lets not kid ourselves here john, zogg is a business, its a commercial night, and by doin a free event you’ll be hopin to bring new folk into the event, who, after havin a good time will hopefully return on normal “pay” nights…. nothin wrong with that.
but you’re on a free party forum here mate, and despite what you said previously, it looks to me like you’re sellin this night as a free party, and a lot of folk think that a free party is more than a club night doin a one-off event without chargin.
secondly, i fully accept that folk connected with zogg have been involved in the free party scene in the past, but i haven’t been aware of them doin anythin for a number of years, and i dont think i’ve ever seen you at a free party in this area………. so engage in all the verbal sparrin you like with folk who STILL own and run free party sounsystems, we’ve all got our own opinions, we just do different things, and there’s no such thing as bad publicity as i’m sure you know mate.
    take care, dave.

    Dave

Points taken – it was all done a bit tongue in cheek anyway – as I said – if i’d have posted the ad – it’d have been done in the events bit – but it was put up by some who goes to our parties – who might not be as up on all the politics side of it.

(BTW – despite what everyone may think about us all being evil capitalists – Zogg isnt and has never been done for the cash – it just about scrapes even most months – like just about everyone who does parties – we do it cos we love the music and the parties)

    cheers

    John
