Yeah, I’ve been trying to explain this. The spirit is so Raw and new that Europeans who attend feel nostalgic about the old days maybe since you would be experiencing the start of a culture in country where things always seems difficult and most of the attention of the youth is now all about politics.
The Free Party culture is a gr8 escape for many who reject to be part of that community. We are trying to attract more n more young people to check what this is all about, has to implement some rules after all; like those who discuss anything related to politics are not accepted and blocked by the crew to attend future events.
Many ravers in Europe are part of activist movements and include slogans against this or that current president etc etc…We are simply not in that position at all. The amazing part is that it’s in a way customized culture to suite the crowd in the Middle East. Another example is Music… We are obliged to kick of free parties with some electro-techno tunes, as the scene here is mostly about fancy clubs, show offs and plastic girls.
After the first Electronic music festival organized by Kaotik System in the whole Middle East, we have made good progress in spreading the message, the music that they couldn’t accept (too hard) and many other changes. Now we have a small quantity of die heart fans for the genres we were trying to spread with difficulty such as Hardcore,Breakcore,DnB and other. It was all about house n trance, the major cheesy ones.
Although the club life has improved as well and foreign DJs are coming to play, yet they remain of the mainstream side.
There are so many plans, but we simply cannot do anything about it as it’s all about the stability in the country. Sponsors are not paying a peny for small/mid promoters.
For now Free parties are what we are doing and I’ve tried to send a message around the world in many forums to look if there are any DJs who would be interested in joining us to help the culture grow and show the Lebanese crowd how beautiful all this is. We really need it and Im sure no one in here is getting the picture correctly.
