Hi!
Happy New Year!
Not sure if you can help at all BUT……………………..
We went to a NYE party at Paulton Bath. Traveled up from Swansea with
the F.R.U. crew. Loads of trouble getting in thanks to the blue
meanies, but eventually did. We were robbed!!
TECHNICS HEADPHONES
BLACK ZIPPED CASE FULL OF C.D.’S. (138) MAINLY PSY TRANCE AND SOME
LONDON ACID TECHNO A DARK TURQUOISE PONCHO WITH WHITE AND BROWN
PATTERN. MADE IN ECQUADOR (VERY SENTIMENTAL VALUE)
What has the party scene come to? I have been to parties all over the
country (mainly wales) and have never had anything stolen from me
before. We are feeling very disillusioned and hurt.
Any help or information to find the above items would be much appreciated
Thanks
Sandy x
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that sux big time!!! soz cant help ya out! seems to have been a few unsavoury characters lurkin in the shadows that nite heard of a few things bein
nicked incl a fire staff!
hope ya track um down sandy
Thats shit, never had anything nicked off me at a party i thought people attended parties didnt steal from one another and is a shame that this is now the case. Good luck with finding your stuff
It’s a pity, but since 3 or 4 years in France,I’m no more confident in the honnesty of party goers.Even high on drugs,I always take a look at what’s happening around:30 seconds totally triping,5 seconds to look around(especially at my female mates…).
I hate this, but I feel like I have to look pontentialy dangerous(and believe me,I really know how to do that) to feel free to act my way…
One more time,it’s a pity.

I get exactly what you mean. Prevent yourself from looking like an easy target and you feel a bit more relaxed.
Problem is, when everybody is doing that it can end up with a party full of shady looking people. I’m sure this is what happens at a lot of Drum & Bass nights sometimes. 90% of the crowd are probably ok but put the hard man face on to protect themselves from being targets of the other 10%
Like you say, it is a shame.
Hi!
I’m not sure that I want to go to parties looking mean and nasty in an effort to protect myself from the scum that saw fit to steal from us on new yrs eve! Surely that’s not the way to party is it?!
I have been going to free parties for around 18 yrs (a bit old skool!)and I am feeling very dissillusioned at the way the party scene is going. It’s such a shame!
Some people really do give free parties a very bad name.
I know I’m a sentimental old fool but my poncho was very precious to me as it was hand made in Equador and has kept me, my kids, and lots of people over the last 20 years very warm. Had it when I was preggy on my daughter! It’s DARK TURQUOISE WITH A BROWN AND WHITE PATTERN DOWN EACH SIDE.
The tunes……..well what can I say. Takes a long time to get all those tunes together. Just hope that whoever has them appreciate’s them.
Someone who was there on the night told me not to lose faith……………I’m finding it very difficult!
Anyway, sorry to go on and on but I am really pissed off!
Any information? ANYONE?!!
Love and light

nah definitely not the way… what set free parties apart from every other kind of nighttime activity was that this bullshit didn’t happen

one thing I do remember from “back in the day” is that despite half the people there doing bare drugs and blagging the system/establishment in a variety of ways, no one would rob stuff like DJ’s tunes and ravers property…. particularly not records/CD’s ….
was the stuff robbed from ya car or?……………………..
tossers hu eva they r ! ope they get lynched
This is very sad, i really hope you at least get the poncho back, as it is totally irreplaceable. (no disrespect intended towards anything else stolen). I lost most of my material possessions once, fortunately nothing sentimentally valuable. Only stuff taken was that which could be sold on.
I can replace the stereo fridge cooker etc, but not my photo collection (including the family photos i ‘inherited’ when my dad died, they go waaaay back) . . . . . .oh and my vinyl, that’s sentimental, alot of it wouldn’t be worth anything to anyone else – junk. . . MY junk!)
Anyway, in my book it is utterly ‘blasphemous’ to steal, in particular, the music that these people claim to love so much (know the score, my arse) or anything connected. How do those types look themselves in the eye in the mirror when they go home? Ultimately, they have to justify it to themselves, and live with it, never mind what others think of them.
I too am very disillusioned these past few years, us ‘geriatric ravers’ tried to pass the ‘bible’ of values and the general concept of raving/partying on to ‘the new batch’ and to be fair, most are decent good sorts, they have the vibe and the passion, but it hasn’t quite ‘flowed’ through, the baton wasn’t quite passed properly . . . SHIT! . . . I know what i mean!!!!! ( Maybe it wasn’t possible anyway to totally recreate the vibes in the next generation?)
It’s just not the same though, Smack n Crack are killing the scene i reckon, at least k-heads are too messed up to be organised enough for theft lol :laugh_at:
BUT . . . occasionally recently, i have found myself in the right sort of company, found myself relaxing a whole lot more, feeling the LURRVE    and the PLURRRRR :group_hug :group_hug :group_hug and was pleasantly surprised that, after an hour or two of hapless wandering and waffling, eventually caught up with my purse cigarettes, jacket etc lighter! Not even one cigarette gone! :surprised
– so it’s not ALL doom and gloom, the vibe IS still there, it’s just the minority spoiling it for the rest of us!
Always remember though – one thing they can NEVER steal – our memories, our thoughts.
And – Have hope, for without it there is nothing
*omg what a rant! Soz
Hi (fellow geriatric raver!!)
Thanks for the words of empathy!
You are right………….crack and smack (and K )are killing the party scene. You could feel the dodgy atmosphere at the warehouse party on NYE more or less as soon as you got in there. in the morning there were people fighting and one guy in particular was just marching around throwing his weight (very big lad!) around and just looking for trouble. He marched up to one of our boys (FRU crew) and just punched him in the face for no reason. We are a very friendly crew and are not used to this kind of behaviour. However……………when asked by one of our crew (also a very big lad!!) to go outside for a ‘chat’ and sort things out, he backed down like a pussy cat! WHAT A WANKER!!!!!!
Dirty drugs…dirty people…dirty vibe. IS THIS WHAT WE CAME HERE FOR??!!
How do these people sleep at night?
It really has made us think very hard about the kind of parties we are going to go to in the future.
I have always enjoyed the ‘no frills’ techno scene but I am slowly turning away from it and leaning more towards psy trance.
INTELLIGENT MUSIC, INTELLIGENT DRUGS, INTELLIGENT PEOPLE (or at least people with a few brain cells, a smile and a conscience!!)
Maybe I am getting too old for all this? ( that should get a response!!)
Maybe I just want to party with people who will ‘doastheywouldbedoneby’?
‘I WANT TO BE FREE, TO DO WHAT I WANT TO DO, I WANT TO GET LOADED AND HAVE A GOOD TIME’
Sorry to go on and on……………………………………
BUT I AM SOOO UPSET!!
Sandy (from Swansea)
I had heard there was some trouble at that event but didn’t realise it was that bad..:hopeless:
Sadly there is now a culture where people just expect an amount of trouble or violence at an unlicensed rave.
I don’t want to blame “younger” people though as TBH they the bulk of them don’t like it any more than us older lot do; but at the same time they don’t want to “let the bullies win” by not attending a party, and there is a lot of street level pressure that fighting is OK.
Personally I think it is unacceptable and the best way to deal with it is to start being more selective about who finds out about parties or what areas they happen in.

the problem is the trouble can follow (London psy-trance parties have been targeted), and its not so much a case of genres but getting the right crowds.
its a case of everyone involved making it clear that trouble at parties is not acceptable.
I suspect that most troublemakers at parties know others in there which is how they got partylines/directions etc; what I cannot believe is that thugs go to all the trouble to randomly turn up in remote warehouses to find parties to fight at.
I think some people need to choose their friends more carefully, and/or if people have a habit of fighting at social occasions just not give them partylines or lifts. They can then have their scraps in the town/city/village centres and keep the bobbies occupied whilst the rest of us get on with partying…

Dear Sandy, your whole post express exactly how I feel since a few years, and it’s more an more spining in my brain…The free parties I recently went to were not dirty, but just sadly normal:normal places, normal people with a normal clubbers-behaviour,normal violence, normal drugs, normal dreams….The same shit I was so happy to left behind when I was on the road to a party…
And I’m sometimes (very) sad,but there’s an old reallity : man turns gold to shit.As semi-geriatric ravers,we had the luck to live the magic time of parties. That’s one thing nobody can take from us.Is it enough?I don’t think so…
this is exactly what I see going on in todays raves.. 😥 it is not that they have totally gone bad, but they are often no different than a licensed club but just without people paying for the use of the space. (which of course gives rise to the argument of wider society, why let people get away with this unlicensed activity if it causes trouble and a burden on the public purse (emergency hospital admissions due to violence/overdoses, costs of drug addiction etc)
that is true…
definitely not – I want to carry on partying and also feel its a shame that the younger crowds may not be able to have as much fun as people did in the 1990s..
this is sick, i thought the idea was to get away from all the scum in town that glass ya and rob ya. i saw someone get smacked on new year, and my boyfriend and his mates were shocked, they’ve been partyin longer than me and they were not pleased. its a shame that just afew r reckin it.
