Are you sugesting that some kind of sub culture has been created?

General Lighting TBH I think its virtually impossible for real “imposters” or deep cover agents provocateurs to infiltrate the rave scene due to its free thinking ethos and strong drugs culture; attempting to do so might even induce mental illness in people with the mindset of a police officer or soldier or someone who believes in strong authority and hierarchies.

It is of course easier for these types to infiltrate a drugs dealing network, a criminal syndicate or even some of the more extremist activist networks as there is still a fair bit of machismo and hierarchies, but if ravers do not behave in these negative ways they should be safe from “infitration”.

However its also easy for people from this scene to destroy themselves and their social networks by overdoing drugs, and getting alternately paranoid/agrressive, dumbing themselves down, turning on those who support them and shouting rather than listening – they can do as much damage as any “babylon oppression”..

Are you sugesting that some kind of sub culture has been created?

what exactly do you mean by this?

Perhaps a sub culture, is a culture that rises from opression, If Laws are made and people in power, to supress certan cultures, then Sub cultures are created by those who wish to continue exerting their belives and living their lifestyles in their desierd way, sociologicaly speaking…..

in that case I would certainly say that the groups of people associated with underground raves are a sub culture, and one which now spans two generations…

where I now live there are teenagers around whose parents support rather than criticise their involvement with the rave scene and even accept their use of recreational drugs…

    oh,

Rave on with Dem Sub’s, them!

Does any one think that this Partyvibe “forum”

    ever metophoricaly speaking,

makes Rave sub culture more in the norms of suposedly excepted normal culture,

or makes the Rave culture, more of a Sub Culture?

I think if people are sensible about how they use the power the internet gives them forums can make a “sub culture” of any kind more accepted through greater understanding and knowledge of the people involved.

but to change others’ attitudes its far more important how you live your life in the real world, stuff like being a productive member of society, not causing undue harm/pain to others

You are never going to make some people change their minds but others might not want to party all weekend but still feel its not a major crime or danger to society if others do.

    oop’s double post!

I think that partly because some of the ways people enjoy partying has been criminalised, this has created a sub culture, so to speak.

I think that this forum, encoraging open minded chat and reflecting on Party related issues, may be seen in a way as creating greater understanding of the culture in genral.

I spose that the fact remains, on wether one calls it a sub culture or just peoples normal culter, many people relate now to a dance music scene as part of their culture.

Culture may be seen as what influencies people draw to there lifes from other influencies of life.

This Forum reflects, suposedly, the opinions of those people who post on it, it is their for an open minded forum.

I cant help but to wonder what future users may think of the Partyvibe Forum, as the scene may evolve, differnt musical influencies may come and go and who knows, mabe law’s may evan change.

Will we still be asking our selfs then I wonder, wether our posts have created a Sub Culture or Reflect Normal culture?

Rave, dance, music culture is a normal culture for me i guese, as it is for millions of other inderviduals world wide who take cultraul influence from dance music and culture.

As for has this Scene been importrated by imposters, (despite.4user.names), Im sure im no more an imposter than anyone else who decides to post here….

    tbc.

    +=+=MaKe=YOuR=OWn=CuLtuRe=+=+=

im an imposter, but luckily uve all trusted me whitch is always good for man kind and bad for paranoia

I think electronic dance music (or at least some genres) is becoming a part of “mainstream” culture today – for many of us it has been a part of our lives for many years..

But what keeps the wider rave scene a subculture is the large level of recreational drug use.

I don’t think that wider society see it as a major threat any more though, but more of an annoyance or irritation, particularly when people overdo the drugs and cause other problems to society or do not reach their own potentials because drugs have taken over their lives.

Until wider social attitudes change in this respect (which they could actually do if the new generation of party people are better at self-regulation) then ravers will always been looked upon negatively by wider society (and not just old people, I meet younger people, some only in their teens who are actually shocked that I am “still going to raves at my age..”)

has this Forum been importrated, “taken over from inside” People who are trying to break this Scene?

Why is it that the thread at: http://www.partyvibe.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=133353#post133353 got Closed, before I had finished Posting on it?

Surly it was not to contreversiol for open minded Partyvibe?
