we new to the whole free outdoor event scene but we really intrested in doing stuff thats nothing to do with clubs / wearhouses. we could really do with some advice. cheers.
:bitter:
i dont think many people are gonna be givin out info to one posters
welcome to partyvibe 😉
what kind of advice do you need? have a look around the forums. there’s lots of info about configuring rigs, the law, what people look for in a party etc
worth also telling us what country you are in – there are users from all over the world here, and even if you are in the UK the rules are different for England and Scotland….
Were based in the north west (england) and have very little experience with putting on illegal partys. we have stuck to doing legal stuff i.e club nights around manchester, barn partys, warehouse partys (all with the owners permission) but there’s only so far you can go with that. We would really like to use some more unique locations. obviously we cant get permission to use. we have found various sites around the lake district. Disused quarries mainly. Really need to know the best way of doing something without get caught, the best way of dealing with the police, my rights and the consequences etc. the actual fundamentals of putting a party on were old hands at but not of the illegal.
Cheers.

this might be a good place to start
i would do anything to party in the lake district!! my favourite place in the world mixed with my favourite hobby in the world, amazing, best of luck to you
would you have any extra issues to worry about there tho, not sure what the legal status of it is, but with the lake district being national park / protected land etc…
I live in manchester, been going to free parties for years, know a few local SS
what nights have you put on?
might be up for hooking up…
Our lot regularly parties in the north Yorkshire Moors, but with nothing more than a hi-fi. I almost got something sorted for a bigger do there recently, but bottled it in the end cos I felt the police would have no real choice but to take a zero tolerance approach given that it is a national park.
The Lakes is fantastic, even with only a few people it can be a lifelong memory.
I think the issue you will find is that you will need to be super sneaky. A couple of extra cars visible can unleash a whole world of local wrath upon you.
Keep it to an appropriate size and the right people and you could have the time of your lives. Hope so. D.
Yeah, super sneaky is the way… all cars off the road, wooded area’s and hollows keep the sound muffled… facing the rig in the right direction can be important…free parties on the beach can work well… and keep it word of mouth/pm’s.
Try and find out what ur local police force are like, free party wise, cos some counties are well harsh… crossin the county line can be a good move… oh, and if they turn up, the police tend to be more fluffy if access isn’t blocked by parked cars.
oh, also, some quarries can be pretty dangerous, imho.
Good luck! 😉
Been living on the edge of the lakes for 5 years and there are a few small gatherings, the cops are easy goin, I know of many different places to have a party, local knowledge is always useful! DO IT!
ah manchester, good luck, if you get owt sorted ‘gis a shout, a train fare away and i got sorted accommodation over there wit me bro raaa
Cheers guys.
Was going to put a small party on in a small quarry in north lancashire / cumbria area but looks like the weathers put a stop to that now. i suppose that how it is with all this sort of thing. of to ibiza the week after but no doubt we will want to do something when we get back. been seriously swatting up and wont be happy until ive done something now. been told of an old slate mine with a cave system which friends of mine have used in the past going to see if its still possible to use that.
Cheers
the Natural England website will tell you if some place is protected or not, and places which are protected/SSSIs are best avoided.
Its not even a case of being a “hippy”, but harsh reality.
In 2006, a huge “teknival” in SW England caused so much alleged environmental contamination (mostly human shit) that for the first time in many years Defra, Forestry, Environment Agency and English Nature (now Natural England) were called into a meeting about “how to deal with the problems caused by raves”.
Until then they weren’t even bothered about raves (or even their staff attending them) :groucho:
A lot of people who worked in that part of the Civil Service (the various UK environmental protection organisations) have been since relocated to the North of England due to downsizing and have had to fight hard to keep their jobs. They are still under threat of budget cuts/further downsizing.
There will be quite a few at EO/HEO grade or above (junior management) looking for a “pet project” with “quick wins” to prove themselves, such as “bringing polluters to justice” so be careful..
