laptops?

My parents are getting me a laptop for uni but i have no idea what to go for :S can anybody advise a technophobe? 🙂 the budget’s like 400 squidoodles, i’d really appreciate some recommendations 🙂

go on pcworld and get a refurbished one with the highest numbers on the specification:P

but seriously, for 400 quid, you want around 2-3gb ram, 180-250gb hard drive, 1.8 – 2.3 dual core processor.

first off what do u want to use the laptop for? if its just for wordprocessing/listening to music/web surfing, then why not concider something like the Acer Aspire one, its alot smaller and lighter than a full laptop and only about 200quid.
Also ask urself does it need to be a laptop? if not go for a desktop as u will get more power for ur £’s.
