  • only me , i got rid of my T.V. a year ago . are any of you T.V. FREE ?

    fuck that

    i haven’t had a tv since about 1996

almost every last thing on tv is complete shit

anything that might be worth watching can be downloaded or streamed for free

Theres a TV in my house but I hardly watch it. Maybe the odd British history or world war II documentary….

My mum does watch telly when she’s in the UK and staying here but she is emigrating soon – I will either flog the telly set or just use it as a monitor for video editing.

I worked in the TV industry from 1998-2001 and saw the decline of quality (both production and technical quality) due to the market pressures, can’t really be fucked with watching the idiot box any more

there are the odd few documentaries on freeview I might watch and stuff like history channel, but they are still dumbed down and I’m not even sure if the signal is active here.

I certainly don’t think its worth the effort of buying the box and connecting it all up (ironic as I once used to help get entire TV studios working)…

i was at a mates house a couple years ago and saw a devid attenborough (sp?) program and was suprised how the voice over seemed to be talking to people with an IQ of about 6

Respect Phogeyman. I only have one cause of kids but am terrestrial only. The amount of mind poison spewed out is unbelievable. I just sit there and think ‘ do people really watch this shit???’

Havent had a tv the last 2 and a half years :weee:

Sometimes miss nature programmes, documentaries, histrory stuff but not enough to plug in again

i got a TV, all i ever watch is shameless (well i used to, last season was cack) and real surreal films at about 4am, theres some rite weird b-movie stuff there, good stuff it is too.

When I live in Liverpool I had no telly for six months, by choice.

It was great, used to pop round a mates house if there was something good that had to be seen, but other than that, I read a lot and listend to shed loads of music :groucho:

Nowadays, I have a big 37incher on the wall, and me and the missus are proper telly headz:hopeless:

    Oh well, how life changes….

hhmm i disagree that there is fuck all to watch. i do agree most can be dloaded of the net, but u have to search……..but prime time SUCKS, give me some toons anyday, they are always playing old classic moovies but have to waste like 3 hours of ur life getting into the story……black and white actig..classic…..i do think documentarys are becoming all the better. i do like the odd garden and food show. as well as that coast documentary, i think those are well good. The only hting that FUCKS me off is what has happened to childrens tv, none of the classic play days for kids, or cartoons for older, there is just melodramas and fucking dressed up pieces of shit trying to talk baby

i only watch tele when im getting changed or something or maybe just having a night in with my girlfriend (we never see each other so its a privelege and its more about just being in each others company) i only watch documentarys or wildlife programmes and i am an eastenders whore but thats a different matter …

plus bring back sharky and george …

Ah you haven’t discovered they joys of Boomerang on Sky then……..

And as you like Wikipedia so much P-P heres a link:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomerang_%28British_TV_channel%29

They usually have things like Tom & Jerry etc showing

I have a TV but only really use it to watch DVD’s and what not on. I know you can use your PC for that but gathering round a monitor to watch a film doesn’t really appeal to me.

I do watch the odd comedy programme though, like IQ, 8 out of 10 cats, Buzzcocks etc. I could never get rid of it though because the girlfriend watches it a fair bit.

havent had a telly in my front room for 5 years. except once in brighton in an 8-bed house. but we compromised and covered it with fabric when it wasnt on, so it wasnt such a dominant force in the room. having a big black cube in any space is bound to feel oppressive.

think of any painting and now imagine it with a black sqauer on it. ruined the image right? thats what tellys do to your front room. and thats before youve even turned them on.
