It is quote possible the OP does not look anything like his biological age so wouldn’t look out of place/suspicious in night time venues – the remaining EDM clubs in Europe are not crawling with detectives like in the 1990s as the detectives (who now are in their 30s to 50s) can just sit in their offices going through facebook/instagram/tumblr to get their intelligence; they are also fed a lot of info about who is doing what drugs and where by the BBC, Guardian and other supposedly “liberal” media. Because of this all tolerated “party drugs” areas are in deprived areas of countries often near the coast where traditional maritime businesses have declined so the local economy is dependent on tourism.
There are some nastier chemicals like PMA sold as MDMA which will make folk ill or even kill them; and it gets worse when you are purchasing MDMA in known “tourist areas” as a foreigner. those risks are the same whether you are 15 or 50. Therefore only start with a small dose; perhaps even half a pill or 100mg of the MDMA powder/crystals (which could be anything).
This is not because the dealers are deliberately trying to be evil but nowadays they (and many of the visitors to the nightclub) are often themselves young, inexperienced and from lower social classes; because anyone over 35-40 who has a half decent career/educations/lifestyle and is still into EDM is judged by their own peers for being “too old for it” or being some kind of deviant/drug dealer; if they regularly go clubbing etc are likely to incur some sort of reputation damage. a friend of mine who is the traffic manager (he decides scheduling) at the community radio station has always been into house music since 1987; has never taken drugs but his peers constantly say to him “aren’t you too old for that music?”
One bit of advice I’d give to someone who is older is to leave more time for “recovery”. Not because you are “too old for it” but you will have more responsibilities like work and family which you cannot just ignore during a comedown as you might have done during teens/20s.
