went to this party an thought it was good but not to sure on the whole middle of the street warehouse parties. gunna attracked alot more unwanted people ho dont normally go to parties an think it ould be fun just to go an cause a lil bit of trouble cos its there type of fun.
what we really need to do is try to make more of a connection between rigs so that they can sort out with each whos gunna do a party when an where so they can plan it better an get a phat stack with some wicked decor an lighting. far away in a forest somewhere. tis not to late to make a change in the way parties are raaa
we need to have more big phat parties instead of about 3 little parties goin on at the same time
well thats my lil rant over with :bounce_fl
People have allways been lashing out now and again, its not good for the scene i agree but as long as the majority keep things heading in the right direction the happy free party vibe will allways shine through!
When I lived in SE England used to go to loads of good ones but I think crews have to be very careful what sort of warehouse gets partied.
East Anglia is still more of a “boom” area compared to SE England (where there has been a downturn in the economy), there is greater demand for commercial property and less of it (as there are less cities), so often a building is between lets rather than being just abandoned.
If this is the case building owners are far more likely to ask the Police to clear people out of it as there are a lot of people at raves who vandalise the warehouses. A lot of the backlash was because local businesses got pissed off with people causing tens of thousands worth of damage to buildings worth millions. Many locals didn’t even mind the raves so much provided they finished by sunday afternoon – but it was mindless vandalism (plumbing being ripped out , every surface tagged etc) and ravers targeting adjacent buildings to rob them which made people (justifiably!) angry.
This “riot” business is not something that only happens in Norfolk, it happened in Bristol, Reading and other places a few years back – and with each riot cops stepped up the enforcement and won. People got hurt, rigs got taken, now there are less crews and less parties in those areas.
I do agree that a larger party with 3 rigs with clued-up people working together could be better as thats how it used to work in SE England for many years – but it needs more solidarity than what you lot currently have – and already too many venues and certain areas get caned too often so there is more opposition (the same areas do seem to get continually targets – this doesn’t make sense in a county the sheer size of Norfolk).
As someone whose been partying for years I don’t think this is the case, its easy to blame “townies” but I find they tend to avoid the raves because “its full of druggies innit” and they are actually a bit scared!
IMO its more that a minority of “party people” themselves (and again this is NOT unique to Norfolk) enjoy a “bit of a ruck”. If there aren’t coppers to fight they will rob something out of a car, or vandalise something, or get a bit too aggressive in the stack. I’ve seen this shit happen over the last few years at many parties across the UK.
As for fighting the cops, if people could overpower cops whenever they disagreed with the laws it wouldn’t be safe to have raves as more violent gangsters would take over the warehouses and travellers sites and enforce their law with knives, guns etc – as violence becomes “part of the gam”. People also seem to forget that in foreign countries where “citizens stand up for themselves more” (i.e riot a bit more often) more of the cops tend to be armed and there are Gendarmes or Militia as well as just Police!
This is a bit of a difficult one 4 me, as in principle and to an extent i can see where theyre coming from – police oppression of people doing what they want to do will cause anger and i no in that situation where ur hyped up 4 a good nite n then ur mates get arrested n u see police acting in a way u think is out of order, thers going 2 be a reaction. Especially as the scene is underground n many people feel like theyr fighting 4 a cause they believe in, it can seem like this kind of direct action shows their dedication – its not like setting up a politcal party 4 legalizing raves is likely to achieve any success in the house of commons! However if u think about it from a practical sense rather than letting anger get the best, violence against authority may prove a point but its not seen as acceptable an todays society and its only gonna piss people off even more, tbh its a losing battle and the only way foward is to show people that ravers can be civilised people by dealing with police politley n showing respect when partying
FUcking idiots! Absolute fucking idiots!
btw out of interest wat rig was involved? (PM PLEASE!)
im sure i can guess, just checkin..
similar things happened in Thames Valley area about 3-4 years ago (you may still have been in high school then) and that is why today its so fucking difficult to hold raves in that area….
this gets worse, looks like there was collateral damage as somehow an in use warehouse unit got broken into and on office smashed up..
there’s no fucking way anyone can justify that, its not a disused office but new premises for that company – I think contractors at my work use them now and then
even if the company backed up the admin computer all the files and paperwork are scattered and it could be customer orders or staffs wages – they could still lose sales because of this so its peoples livelihoods being fucked up…
IMO its morally wrong anyway to take the leccy off an active unit like that as it means an actual business is saddled with the bill rather than the power company just writing it off
small British companies like that are struggling as it is without idiots making life harder for them – thats not “hitting back at babylon” but trashing your own community… :annoyed:
Rude!
What were they thinking… Oh yeah that’s the problem, they don’t think.
its on yahoo news/reuters now so all the people in foreign countries are gonna see this report as well and think this is what British ravers are like – all four forces (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs and Essex) used to shut down the rave as well…
the local media are putting this report amongst all the “yob culture” reports and there are claims loads more stuff got robbed out of thermaglow….
although it can be argued the cops overreacted nowadays more and more normal people accept this level of force to defend private property rights especially as the economy declines..
I’m not often happy about being ill and missing a weekend but I’m so glad I stayed in this weekend….
I think its gonna have wider repercusssions, not just in EA but in the whole country and possibly Europe…
The way i see it the OB are gona see it as they owe the ravers one…
It will be intresting to see how this panns out over the next few weeks. Expect zero tollerence fron the plod in Norfolk area…
i reckon we should all learn from this so i doesnt happen again like think more about locations and how to handle the police when they do show up as its obviouse they can win and will do if its necessary. people just need to use there heads more instead of throwing bottles which aint gunna do shit apart from wind up the police and smash there own cars which did happen
has pissed me off abit what has happaned and from where i live aswell :hopeless:
shame for norfolk. their days are over now.
lets jus hope the police dont crack down on the noth as well
People need to fight back intellegently, I’m as guilty as anyone for loosing sight and steaming in only to take a beating off the old bill.
Years ago a chatted with a woman at a demo in london who ripped me to pieces for being dressed in black, masked up and as she put it whats better the bastards in blue or you in black. The system wants people to react and violence as a reaction is easy for them to handle and win.
They will always be better armed and organised.
People need to pick there spots wisely but also when busted not simply react with violence.
The clown army is an intellegent way of confronting the police, blatantly breaking the law but not falling into the trap of appearing like violent thugs.
Some mates of ours were arrested for similar thing, years ago and a crowd built up outside the police station and things turned ugly. This was rescued by another system turning up and the party was held outside the police station with the condition that we would leave when they were released.
It worked, and probably wouldn’t have in this case but it would still look much better riot police attaching a group of happy people just dancing!
It’s a huge thing to do and i know is much harder than words but it is the only way of confronting the police
