do you not think people have a right to offend other people? just trying to learn more about your perspective 🙂

I think there is a time and a place mate. I think offending people during a time of great sorrow and remembrance is not acceptable at all.

If they want to offend people on their own time then fair enough, Just not during events like Armistice and Remembrance day.

I think I may well agree, its very tricky the old line between freedom of expression and the hurt of other people.

Interesting subject though and I certainly dont aprove of their actions

I personally believe nothing but bad will follow this soft ruling. Just take a look at this https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lets-show-these-poppy-burning-bastards-how-many-people-want-them-deported/169555196396783

It has started. this wouldn’t of happened if the judge had given a tough sentence.

(you have to be a facebook member to see these pages btw)

I am sure it will die down however there does seem to be a worrying anti immigration trend emerging.

I doubt it will die down any time soon. But don’t you see mate. If our authorities had shown they’ll come down hard on issues like this then there wouldn’t be an anti immigration feeling. Right now they are burying their heads in the sand, unwilling to offend anyone and this is the result.

And you cannot blame Britons for feeling this way. If your leaders are not willing to tackle the problem then who else will. You will that’s who, you will seek out fellow like minded individuals and sort out the problem yourself. That is why there have been revolutions in the middle east. Once the mob lose faith in their leaders trouble usually follows.

Luckily in Britain we have a variety of things that keep us complacent so nothing is ever done but I can’t see that lasting for too long. Couple that with rising fuel, food costs, higher cost of living etc then I can see riots and disorder on the horizon.

At the end of the day the law is the law and they were prostituted within those confounds. I would be more worried if they bent the law just to go with public opinion.

those people who burnt poppies on poppy day a while ago.. :@ :@ makes me so mad! how can someone be so disrespectful?! i can’t imagine being alive in the world wars, must have been terrifying. people like that don’t deserve to be part of our culture if they’re not going to show it complete respect.

and on the westboro church.. oh my. complete loonies.

do you respect all parts of “english” culture then?

But they wouldn’t of bent the law had they had given a tougher punishment, the law is quite clear here. The maximum punishment given under the Public Order Act is 10 years imprisonment and an unlimited fine.

A paltry 50 quid sends out all the wrong messages. I would get more for pissing up the side of a street corner.

It is infuriating and a decision our authorities will regret.

i can’t think of anything that i don’t show respect to, even though i might not agree with all of it. i think it’s sad that people like that live to incite hatred, how twisted and wound up they must be. i don’t really even agree with most wars, but the poppy is symbolic of all the people who gave their lives (the MOST precious thing anyone can own). i don’t think it’s right that these people can show such disrespect to that and get away with a £50 fine. imagine how hurt the families of those soldiers and those war veterans must feel.

but you use other simular cases as a president if I understand correctly, not go this is one the masses have jumped on lets throw the book at him and make an example. If anything it seems like a good example of the importance of seperating the justice system from the political one. Sure David would have loved some good PR.

I would think the ammount they fined him would refelect his financial situation.

I think they would probably point out how many people we killed in their country and suggest that the burning of a symbol is a tad less disrespectful than blowing up children.

I can think of a few things that our part of our culture that I dont show respect for, wife battering and drunken friday night violence to name but two.

Not having a go at all just trying to put across how perspective is everything and how our laws protect rights not popularity.

It gets better mate, He’s on benefits!!!!! He recieves £792 a month in benefits from a country he utterly despises. We give money to a man who would see us all dead if he had the chance.

    It is laughable.

Emdadur Choudhury is part of Muslims Against Crusades. The MAC primarily hate the British military and foreign policy but I have heard them in interviews and in other media outlets expressing their hatred of our way of life.
