I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of random hate crimes against muslims goes up for a bit but I can’t see much else coming of it, offensive muslim protests making the front page of the daily mail and anti-muslim facebook groups are nothing new 😛
Just have to see what happens in the coming days I suppose. I don’t think this issue is going to go away for a while tbh. People are genuinely angry over this.
yesterday a Muslim community centre (not a mosque, they already have one) in Ipswich which was going to be in a old church was burned to the ground (despite there not being a major problem with extremism in this town..) – however all the cops/feds and surveillance in the world can’t stop individual extremists on both sides converting anger into action. you would have to lock off the entire country and that just isn’t practical.
that said when I was much younger in the late 70s/early 80s there was just as much racial tension in the UK, for much the same reasons, arguments over global access to national resources, and wars in various parts of the world fuelling immigration to richer countries.
Do you think it was deliberate? Would seem likely given the current situation but you never know, could be a coincidence!

Cops and Fire Brigade are already suspecting arson. Place has been empty for over a decade and there are loads of junkies and pissheads gathering round that way so the local firebugs have had plenty of opportunity to torch it.
Its hardly the sort of thing what needs special forces tactics to do, all it would take is one pissed off strung out junkie or alcoholic or just one angry person with a lighter and £2 bottle of white spirit.. it was uninsured as well but I suspect thats because the premiums were too high in the current climate…
Damn, That place has been gutted! :hopeless:
worse, the dude what wanted to convert it is actually very much against Islamic extremism in any form and is probably a main reason why it isn’t a problem here compared to other city/large town areas..
See now, (if this was a deliberate act) this would of all been avoided had that judge given that MAC bastard a tougher punishment.
I’m not so sure as if someone is angry enough and wants revenge they will torch the place whether the guy got a fine or 10 years inside – The objective would be to deny the Muslims their community centre and the revenge would be against the burning of the poppies, not the criminal justice system – if it wasn’t this incident they’d find another reason to burn the place.
Whatever the reasoning behind it, I hope (again, if it was deliberate) the perpetrator is apprehended quickly!
I still think people will react to the soft sentence though, I’ve read on facebook and other forums people saying that because our authorities are unwilling to deal with the situation then they will instead. Can’t say for sure they will but who knows how far someone is prepared to take things.
As I said earlier I can’t see any good coming from this shit. :hopeless:
The authorities (including the Security Service (MI5)) are already on the lookout for a rise in racial violence, everything from marches to bombs going off. They are being quite open and honest about this in some areas, for instance our local Constabulary had an exercise about how they would deal with a bomb going off in Suffolk and invited every faith group representative and community groups to contribute.
They also train regularly against “public order situations”, one is rival groups fighting in a town after pub closing time linked to the current political/social situations. They aren’t as stupid or impotent as people think – the harsh realities are that everyone has taken their freedom for granted and is abusing it.
The cops simply aren’t going to let rival groups fight in the streets or riot any more than they did three decades ago – but the sad fact is a lot of public money will be pissed up the wall keeping us safe. For instance it cost £800 000 to ensure the recent marches in Luton didn’t erupt into violence, just consider what else more positive that could have been spent on..

Yeah MPs expenses!
unfortunately this happened long after the MPs had all been busted (indeed some have actually been nicked) and the Police Authority don’t pay politicians (it would be rather dodgy if they did!)
its a difficult one as if we are to preseve the right to dissent we are used to, the only way to deal with extremists is covert infiltration of the group with an aim to diverting and diluting the end effect of the more extreme protests, as the cops successfullly achieved with the eco-extremists, whilst still permitting the overall right to protest.
This is going to be a lot harder against more violent extremists, whether its a white cop infiltrating the EDL or a British Asian cop infiltrating an Islamic group, both of them would find their lives and those of their families in danger, people on both sides will happily do 20-30 years time for being a cop killer and be unrepentant from day of sentencing until day of release..

sorry didnt express myself properly, savage wasnt in reference to the population just a slang term to express how nasty the event was. No idea why I said bloody england, bit pissed. Love England and this event is no reflection on its population, my apoligies.
