Hello people, my names jonny, im an up an commin drum n bass dj, lookin for someone to give us a chance to sho u wot im made of. All my mates ect think im worth of playin a warm up somewhere. I got a demo available if your interested, jonnyquick@hotmail.com n ill get bak in touch. Cheers!
welcome to partyvibe…
might be worth telling people where you are based as this site has people from all across the world on it…
also worth uploading a mix on to a website somewhere….
Also rig owners arent very likely to reply to someone unknown on a forum. Not too good for them to admit that they are the people responsible for x amount of raves to anyone n everyone. On the other hand some like to do just that. Most people get a set by taking there tunes along with them to every party n asking n asking til someone gives in. Hold tight til the summer mate you’ll get a set at a multi rigga for sure.
kool, all understood. Im based in london and am in the process of uploading a demo onto a site. Will post the link up here when its done, cheers for the advice 🙂
Can you post a link here for the rest of us? 🙂
yeah…
or, you could just turn up at any london party and theres a fair chance youll get a set
hello people, ive posted my demo on http://download.yousendit.com/9940A6F5362C2BCC
feel free to post coments ect, enjoy. 🙂
damn good advice its what i used to do until i got to know one of the rig owners (and now only really play for him) another good idea is to basically turn up with a demo (only like 30 mins long remember this guy doesnt want to listen to you all day) tell the owner to have a listen and give him a phone number and wait n see but be persistant!
i play psy though and to be honest its been difficult enough getting sets d n b i think youll do fine matey
all the best and good luck
and on the multi rig front darn right youll get a set on one i played my first last summer went down a storm, the louder the better 🙂
No its not its really realy annoying.
I hate it when you have people bothering you every twenty seconds trying to get on the deck. I have nae problem with someone saying, “I’ve got my tunes in the car can I get a shot if theres time” but when they ask over and over again it just makes me want to flip out.
Do you not think theres enough to deal with without being harassed constantly.
It may seem the best way to you but its really reaaaaaallly annoying.

that was one of the things that pissed me off when I was more involved in parties – you would get bare idiots constantly coming up to you trying to blag a set (and often I would be busy with something important like sorting out sketchy electric cables just to stop the whole fucking rig from cutting out)
you are better off exchanging demos with people, particularly with all the excellent digital file exchange services we have
My advice would be to get a demo [on cd or k7 is fine with me ] and hand it to a rig owner with your name and contact details written on it.
Do write the contact details on the actual k7 or cd though cos if they are anything like me it will inevitably get separated from any bits of paper I am given when I unload the rig at home and if I like it I wont be able to get you to play for me.:groucho:
Hassling me for a set all night will lead to me unleashing the grizly bear I keep inside me for those I find annoying. :get_you:
Another way to attract my attention is to be present several times at the site cleaning up and rig packing stage of parties helping us out with them as this is far and away the best way to get me to take the time to locate and listen to your demo….
Thats my advice 😉
Hmmm…. when i said “asking and asking until someone gives in” i meant ask each rig at all the parties you go to. Not pester one person at one rig. Thats got to be the best way not to get a set!
Drum and Bass is dead. Far too many djs. Find a NEW interesting style of music and give out demos of that!
ye i agree with whats been said so far
i used to take my tunes out with me all the time
and got loads of sets but always towards the end of the parties doing it that way
so me and a couple of mates decided to club together and get our own rig
i can play whatever time i like when we do a party :bounce_fl
but as someone said before dont hasssle rig people too much
they will get pissed off
ask them then just make sure they can see you from time to time thats enough to remind them
and good luck
there are loads of drum and bass DJ’s out there.

Last sets are the most sort after round here! And yes, thats why I run nights- can play what I want, when I want, for how long I want!
Make friends with people. I’ve had more offers from chatting to people about tunes I love and hate, than I have by asking for sets!
