Cheap as poss, drugs fueled mission to wales coming up!
    ๐Ÿ˜ฎ cold ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

one of my friends has got the small potbelly stove in his van..

NB: you will need a good flue (test with smoke bomb!) providing sufficient airflow to the outside or you will poison everyone inside the van with carbon monoxide!

    Thanks for the linkโ€ฆ..
Not sure if I have room for a stove like that but sure would b nice.
saw a geart heater in a camping shop, it has no flame, it just glows, runs off a small gas thing.
Around ยฃ50-ยฃ60well worth it but want to spend my money on fun stuff ๐Ÿ˜‰
If I could find one second hand, I would b one happy Bod.

whilst I appreciate the โ€œfun stuffโ€ bit, TBH I wouldnโ€™t be comfortable trying to scrimp and save when it comes to gas appliances!

In fact I would suggest even spending another ยฃ25 or so on this

In any case one thing that concerns me about the gas stove is where do the exhaust gases go? these are often made to be deployed in tents with ventilation to the open air, and even then you should be careful.

there would be a distinct temptation for those inside the van to close doors, windows against the cold air and thus CO can build up inside the van.

Incidentally vans which are designed to have LPG equipment used inside them (such as BT lines vans) have extra ventilation points.

I donโ€™t mean to scare people too much but the problem is that CO poisioning symptoms are very similar to those of colds or even tiredness, post-rave comedowns, and such a heater is bound to be lit at a time when you are knackered which would mask any symptoms.

Iโ€™d buy the alarm as well whatever heater you put in the van. It may seem expensive at the time, but it will also protect against CO buildup caused by your cooking stove or any other LPG/fossil fuel appliance, and IME even as late as Spring you may desire heating in the van, we are in Britain after all ๐Ÿ˜€

    Thanksโ€ฆ..
    that is all good advice!
My van is never air tight, cos it 30 years old VW and need the side door needs to b replaced.
But saying that I think that ยฃ25 would be well spent on that thing on the link.
    Thats what overdrafts are for!!!!
you may of just of saved my life NICE 1.
    Thank U, I owe U a drinkโ€ฆ

Well weยดve been using a camper oven in our van for around 2 1/2 years now (recovered abandon on a Trav site) but we bought a CO detector about a year ago and were quite alarmed by how often it went off. The oven and one ring work just fine now with everything closed but now we know we need to open the sunroof when useing the grill and the other ring. Moral: get a good CO detector but other than that, if you donยดt have room for a small wood burner (which weยดll probably fit when we get back tom the UK), the oven does a cracking job of heating up the vanโ€ฆ
