Need to source a distribution board in a day, but everywhere wants plant insurance, and we can hardly tell them we’re taking it to Spain for two weeks?
Any suggestion?
Try P.A hire shops if you are after something like a 230v 32A ceeform – multiple 13A sockets.
You could maybe try and convince them to sell you one. Either that or you will have to hunt about sharpish….see if anywhere that stocks them is nearby. Rubberbox and Kelsey make damn good gear if you can find it.
(hope I’m on the right tip)
Binge, for what you’ll probably pay for a two week hire you may aswell buy one and save yourself the hassle. You can use it again in the future too.
single or three phase? what sort of connectors?
Every crew I know has either purchased or constructed their own.
Unfortunately its short notice or I would have suggested contacting Richie T who custom builds them. (there is even a picture of one on here somewhere). maybe he may have one to sell..
otherwise here are link to some of the bits you will need if anyone in your crew is able to build one

NB: Make sure there are sufficient circuit breakers/RCDs!
you can use a small “consumer unit” like what you would have to feed power to your garage and workshop..
As Biotech says its a useful thing to have anyway (also for your workshop or even at home, given the amount of random power cuts in the country areas here!)
An possible alternative or addition would be (if you arrive in Spain early and/or have local friends/contacts there who can get hired kit) to use whatever UK kit you can find (presumably someone out of the crews will have some available!) for the decks and other small powered stuff
Then obtain an extra distribution board in Spain, and also CEE16 (Euro-mains plugs) to IEC (kettle) connector leads. You can use these to power the amps and other equipment which connects to kettle leads if you run out of spare sockets on your UK kit.
Cheers for the advice guys, but looks like we’ve got one in Cambridge for £130 for the two weeks.
When we get back I reckon i’ll look into building on.
Honestly, some people are fucking useless, I’ve been asking for weeks what else can I do to help, then two days before we go they realise they can’t get a board! And one of the trucks has failed an MOT twice, but thats another story………..
If people we a little less obsessed with building speakers, and a little more obsessed with logistics it’d all go a bit smoother!
People obsessed with logistics can be very obsessive 😉 Make a big list and check everything off as you load it is my advice. :crazy_fre
if there were no big speakers there would be no need for logistics :bounce_fl
Well yes, but there’s a nice medium. Anyway its all sorted (we hired a van out), we’re off tomorrow morn and its gonna be PHAT!
Will stick some pics up if I ever make it back.
Cheers for your help though guys!!
The speakers are the easy bit :crazy_fre you know when you havent packed them – its all the random shit like first aid kits, tea mugs, spare cable, connectors thats time consuming to track down and load up :laugh_at:
The need would still be there….just the party wouldn’t happen.
