unfortunately that area has been rinsed over the last 7 or so years, people did parties every weekend in the same areas and not everyone cleared up..

I think they’ve changed the designation of the Ridgeway as well so a lot more of is forbidden to “recreational vehicles” (which includes normal cars if TVP or Wiltshire decide to do this)

used to happen all the time in the 90s (I reckon a third of the people at “old-skool” raves never had licenses, insurance and there was bare nicked cars driven to them)

thats one reason why cops (and particularly traffic cops) are so against unlicensed raves, although to be fair there are less people driving around in dodgy motors nowadays than what I remember from “back in the day”…. (maybe only because feds have better surveillance though?)

It does seem harsh but TVP always try to bust the first outdoor of the season, plus unfortunately that area got caned with 10 riggers lasting for 3 days a few years ago and loads of rubbish left behind

Now they virtually have the Ridgeway staked out every weekend in summer, plus all the locals and farmers are keeping an eye out for any odd activity (and lets face it, what other reason would there be for loads of normal saloon cars and the odd van driving through S Oxon at strange hours?)

With hindsight I think we pushed it too far, what has brought it on top isn’t just the cops but the locals and dog walkers getting pissed off as there were a few chavs about who would give them hassle, plus muppets who would break into adjacent farms and fuck things up.

Those unfortunates from the crew that got busted are being punished for others crimes…

when the raves happened at the Eastern end of the Ridgeway and I lived in Reading I used to cycle to them, although Wantage was about as far as I would go, any further than that was a bit too much for the ride back and forth and a party…….
