I think it was the man on the bike that called the police,

this is a shame as most people on bikes (pedal or motor) are sound about raves, particularly the younger lot (many of whom enjoy a party themselves).

I wonder what prompted him to do so?

I hope people weren’t giving him shit as thats enough to push someone to the point they dial 999 – because of the backlash against “anti-social behaviour” many people aren’t prepared to be intimidated and middle englanders now fight their corner even when outnumbered (by calling cops etc)

OTOH until recently it was very rare for bystanders to call 999, it would only be locals who could actually hear any noise nuisance.

But that is now all it takes to get a rave busted, if the man is prepared to give a statement to the feds that he was “alarmed or distressed” by the behaviour of the ravers they can take whatever action they feel necessary….

And even if one particular bobby wants to try and claim all the glory for shutting down a rave, he’s not robocop so can’t collect the rigs single handed (nor has the rank to authorise a shutdown) – clearly his colleagues, superiors and the locals of the area are behind him too.

Ridgeway parties have now happened for as long as some of the new people on this board have been alive, and not everyone in the area is happy about them – maybe its an idea not to keep rinsing (roughly) the same areas yet again..

People can talk about suicide rigs but they are up against an endless pot of taxpayers money, plus forensic accountants who will try and work out where the money to replace all this equipment is coming from…

GL – Well I saw the man on the bike cycle up the track, then he stopped, turnt around (about 50 yards from where cars began) cycled back a bit down the track then got his phone out and talked whilst he looked up then cycled away.

Im still amazed at how perceptive i manage to be, lol.

I saw an old couple walkin through the women didnt know wat was goin on she asked her husband and he sed to her it was a HARDCORE DRUG RAVE!!! lol

As we left the party there was a woman walking her dogs! she stared shouting at us asking what we were doing and telling us to leave. This was about 8:30 i think. But there was a police van sitting in the village before ashbury!
Also one of my mate got fined for having italic number plates, but was then directed to the party by the police officer!

you can’t control how everyone else feels or thinks about free parties but giving out a positive vibe is the best thing you can do.

Walkers are usually bemused an sometimes wary of parties they come across, unsurprising considering the press and public image, its therefore up to us to give them a better impression.

IF ur in a fit enough state to talk to people its always best to, a smile an a hello an even a little chat can go a long way. I’ve had some seriously surreal conversations, and the overwhelming majority of ‘straight’ people i’ve ended up talking to have been really decent.

you reap what you sow in this world

One tip – a good pair of shades can really help 😉 😎 😉

its great being at an outdoor party and seeing ramblers having their morning walk through the party..
there was a solstice party on top of a mountain in the Lakes few yrs ago and the morning after the party we were sat on a settee drinkin special brew . :yakk:

    good idea….

the people who definitely disagree with the idea of the rave will (like the man on the bike) just call 999 from a distance. They are not stupid and realise that perhaps other equally angry people from the party may see them and might want to give them a slap for being a grass.

There is nothing we can do about this. If someone from a party did attack them (or even shouted at them) it would be witness intimidation – a serious crime, morally and legally worse than doing unlicensed raves.

OTOH if someone is willing to walk or cycle through a party in progress it may in part be defiance that they “wont’ be intimidated” (and why should they? they have every right to be there) but it is also an opportunity to try and build bridges.

If I see people cycling and wearing their club gear I tend to check if the path is clear, as they may be on an audax or other timed ride where a few seconds matters (it shouldn’t be blocked anyway for safety reasons)

OTOH many will stop and chat or at least wave, I’ve even heard of cyclists and randoms joining the party for a bit if they aren’t in a hurry to get somewhere else…

iv been at many a party where cyclists/walkers etc have passed thru during the day and most of them have been cool. show them a bit of respect, a smile, a non sarcastic hello and they generally return it. at a party a few years ago in a forrest in norfolk, a group pf horse riders where approaching(quite some distance away) and the music was turned off for about half an hour until they had passed thru. when they got to the stack they were all smiles(altho i think they prob were a bit surprised:weee: )

At a party 2 weeks ago i came from the rig and saw a woman stood there on her fone, i believed she was ringing the police, i didnt really know what to do so i smiled and said hello.

she turnt round and was all “helllllllllo im just trying to get hold of my son, he loves these partys, only lives down the road, will be gutted he missed it!!”

i was well shocked lol, told her to keep trying because the police had been and gone and it was allowed to carry on till whenever really

had a bloody 45 min conversation with her

so i guess you just never know what people are doing, but best thing is to always be polite smile and say hello. definately.
