I don’t think its even so much the land ownership issue. To put it bluntly, ravers in East Anglia have got themselves now linked in with hoodie/yob culture and are being judged as such.
Your probably right.
But the Police in England are far more heavy handed than in Scotland, and I think a lot of this is due to the attitude of some crews and party goers, who seem to want to confront or antagonise the Police.
The last time I was at a party and the Police turned up, the party had been going all weekend, they arrived on the Sunday as they had a complaint from the landowner.
The Police ( and there was only 2 uniformed officers – and no riot gear ) told everyone that “technically” they could charge everyone there, but instead they politely asked everyone to pack up and leave. And they gave everyone 8 hours to do so, so that we could all sober up if we needed to.
They even offered free breathalizers to anyone who wanted to check if they were fit to drive.
No roadblocks, no checking of cars / vans etc. – and they even told us of a better spot to have a party in future.
Would this ever happen in England ?

it did. I’m not talking “back in the day” like early 1990s but as recent as the mid 2000s in some areas including East Anglia
I think the big problem is the finish times and the attitude of a few ravers.
A lot of them also have beef with the cops not even just because of raves but because cops have dared to pull them up on other occasions for their own personal criminality such as theft and dealing. With each rave that goes on cops (even friendly ones) build up a picture of who is attending via checking car owner details and associates.
Also ravers are judged by what they post to their personal websites particularly places like bebo etc. If they start posing like the are “ghetto yout of fakenham” etc and/or bragging about how much drugs they can take and how they are gonna fight this person what disrespected them, with the cops being constantly worried about “London-style criminality” here they are bound to see gatherings of these people as more of a threat.
Everyone has access rights, yet there’s no law that protects squatters? So squatting is illegal?
I love scotland and thats the only thing that puts me off!
And by up North I mean northern England…
so true, i mean the ravers who wanna go 2 a party to have a good time are completely ok, but now you get alot of travellers/chavs/rude boys who go there just to make money………….or just something to do after a saturday night……….
personally im not impressed by the way that some of the parties are ran around here, its just full of ket heads stumbling all over the place, wrecking things. but litter is a major issue, i remember the beach party at horsey gap last year, the bloke got an asbo cuz he didnt bother 2 pick up all the litter. was all on the news n everything.

i think what attracts the chavs is how easy it is for them to get drugs.

yes this does happen. happened in northampton a few years back.
after 10 years of putting on parties in the same areas every time they party is going to piss the OB off a lot. also over this time how much attention have they brought on themselves ? alot

There is no legal term such as “squatting” in Scotland as such – but it is illegal.
‘ ….it is a criminal offence to ‘lodge in any premises or encamp on any land which is private property without the consent or permission of the owner or legal occupier’.
I’m not too sure legally what would happen if lodged in Council property tho …. ?
If you don’t mind me asking – why would you want to “squat” in a property in Scotland ?
Why not just rent somewhere ?
🙂

travellers make up a lot of parties. many sound systems are run by new age travellers :you_crazy
also that party in horsey what was busted was due to having 3-4 parties there in as many weeks. chris was a bit of a dick to actually say that he was the “rave organiser” when it was a multi rigger that was busted. thank goodness he still havesnt got his red soundlab rig :laugh_at:
The thing that stands out in this and other similar threads is that parties in England keep getting stopped or are busted.
This just doesn’t happen in Scotland. The Police just don’t consider crews or party goers as a threat to public order.
I know of only one crew that was told to stop using a particular site because they were attracting local yobs to their parties.
And I have never seen even one Policeman in riot gear at any parties I’ve been to in Scotland.
It just seems such a shame that the party scene in England seems to have been ruined in the way it has 😥
hmm, I’d be surprised if that was the main reason, surely its not the case that Norwich and Yarco are devoid of drug dealers?
even if they live in a city its still a 30-40 mile drive or more to most party venues and these “chavs” would have had to know something about partylines
Sadly I think the rot is a lot deeper than that. I think many of people attending raves these days (although not the people on here) see the “chav/hoodie/street gang” lifestyle as something to look up to, rather than something that ultimately leads nowhere – to them pissing off the farmer is a territorial thing and even fighting the police is seen as part of the buzz :you_crazy
also I do feel a few wrong’uns and their behaviour are being tolerated at parties because they have vehicles/bits of equipment…

does ketamine play a big part in scottish parties?
do you have 3-4 different parties every weekend?
how come you dont attend UKtek?
There’s a fair amount of K at parties – but it’s not the predominant drug – MDMA and pills are still the most common.
And lots of booze :weee:
No we don’t have that many parties – there’s usually 1 or 2 parties most weekends, ( and considering how small our population is in comparison to England that’s pretty good going ) – but whenever possible Scottish crews prefer to collaborate and either link up or do multi-riggers together.
Re UKtek – why would we ?
We can get away with doing rediculous parties up here without any hassle from the authorities – and no trouble at them either. We have a really good party scene up here.
And it’s fecking miles away too. Anything from 1200 – 2000 mile round trip depending on where you stay in Scotland.
Can I ask – Why don’t you go to Midge Death mate ?

Re South England – as London alone as a population 150% of the whole of Scotland – so I still think we do OK.
A lot of Scots go to the European teknivals. Some crews take their rigs too.
And Midge Death has been going for many many years – but I know most folks in England have never heard of it.
You should get up this year if you can, but it’s a long long journey as it’s up in the north west of Scotland not far from Skye – but the location is beautiful. It on the autumnal equinox.
