And Midge Death has been going for many many years – but I know most folks in England have never heard of it.
You should get up this year if you can, but it’s a long long journey as it’s up in the north west of Scotland not far from Skye – but the location is beautiful. It on the autumnal equinox.
so whats the scenery like? i mean really? what music is played? what genres are the rigs? what are the predominant drugs up in scotland? are there many fights/robberies up that way?
sounds pretty interesting, sorry to sound steriotypical but i always thought of scotland as abit of a tough mans land.

If you want an idea of how beautiful Scotland is have a look at these sites to start with

and most of Scotland is ( population wise ) pretty much empty outside of the cities. Plenty of real wilderness. You have to remember that we have a population under 5 million in a country about half the size of England.
The rigs are basically techno, hardtek, etc. and some ( unfortunately not enough ) DnB. Hard and dirty is how we like it :laugh_at:And all the rigs know one another and get on.
We don’t do psy-trance or anything like that.
I’ve already explained about the drugs.
Fights / robberies ? What are they ? We don’t have them. The people that go to parties in Scotland just want to have fun – not aggro.
You can get attacked or killed in Scotland too – maybe not as bad as in England – but it still happens. But not at parties.
And as for us being tough – who cares – it’s a very immature attitude – although there’s plenty of arseholes in Scotland that think they are. But they’re not party people anyway.

If you want to do free parties – Edinburgh and Glasgow are the best places to go to Uni as you wouldn’t have to travel so far to the parties.
Most of the other Uni’s are bit out of the way – good – but involving a lot of travelling.
And most of the students in Scottish Uni’s aren’t Scottish anyway – there’s loads of English studying up here.
And I’m not sure – but you probably won’t have to pay fees either – we abolished them years ago.
sounds like the place to be
my dad was born and raised in st mirren right opposite the stadium many years ago
/me useless fact of the day :weee:

Edinburgh Uni is massive – it’s not on one site – but has many campuses. It really depends on what course your doing where you’ll be.
Heriot Watt & Napier Uni’s are really good too – especially for business and engineering.

sweet man, hopefully ill be doing science there, not too sure what science i wanna take yet, theres hundreds of courses!!!
Its a scottish university so you can take for example maths 1A, physics 1A and another course and still leave yourself options to do a lot of courses in second year and only define your precise degree at the point where it is unavoidable rather than at the start.
The scottish university system is modular and if you get really good passes at A-level they may even give you credits for some courses as a result so that you could try some weird and wonderful things at first year level to see what you think and still be eligible for many courses/degrees at second year that dont involve them.
I really would advise speaking to the departments you are interested in and finding the common courses between the degrees to give you some idea of what I am talking about.
Its just the unfortunate truth that the more people you have gathered in one place with the responsibility of policing themselves, the higher the likelyhood of bad things happening.
Which means people looking out for each other – if, in the case of a big free event, there is nobody who is “responsible” or “in charge” then EVERYONE is responsible for EVERYONE else, which means if you see people climbing around on a hedge, or breaking a dry stone wall, or leaving a gate open, or approaching a group of chavs – you’re just as responsible as anyone else for stopping them
thats so fucking true

yeah im going to have to speak to somebody there, i’m a little concerned that i can’t afford it because im gunna have to get a student loan out, living cost are an average of £3,000 a year plus all youre fees and living expenses ontop. A majority of the courses are 4/5 years long so i dunno whether i can get a student loan that big!!!! but i certainly want to go to university……….
…….raj as you said, im not currently doing a-levels, im actually doing a access course (access to natural science) and i like the university of edinburgh because they accept a whole range of access courses for their degree programmes, unlike a majority of english universities, they only accept a-level grades/tarrif points. but i wont be going to university until september 2009 so got a little planning to do yet!!!

I think you’ll find that if Edinburgh would accept you – so will all the other Uni’s
My mate had to do an access course as she’d left school with no qualifications. She got into Napier Uni – and is currently in her final year of her honours degree.
So I see no reason why you couldn’t do the same mate.

yeah true m8, i do like the sound of getting away from england and perhaps studying somewhere else in a different enviroment, and edinburgh sounds great!! i cant wait to go to uni now but i know its gunan b tough doing a degree for 5 years!!!
they make it sound like we drag huge soundsystems across the country purely to annoy people!
