sounds like some ones gotta go on a site finding drive pretty soon. i’d hate to see the same thing happen to sussex as i saw in surrey. it feels like the heat is following me around. its a real shame as the most active rigs are the least community minded, and there is the excellent BASS which can help prevent these sorts of mistakes, but unfortunately not all brighton rigs are members. if we are a bit more adventurous with the sites, then the damage is minimised and the police are kept ignorant.

having said that theres also issues like may the first is a blatant start of the freeparty season. everyone knows, and we were all getting excited about beltaine coming up on here. not the slyest. also i beleive that the rigs met up at 9pm, which struck me as fucking early for a convoy to be about. i mean its hardly even dark then!

I was reading a book this morning in which it was mentioned there was a big riot over the right to have a maypole in Bury St Edmunds in 1648 (Cromwells govermment had outlawed them…)

OTOH I reckon new technology and centralised policing practices are the main reasons why the big raves have failed recently (although as you say venue choice is another problem). the same problems are happening everywhere – at least in England
Although there is chatter on the messageboards about beltane / mayday etc it isn’t that much use to cops.

What is of use to them is nimbys or CCTV operators spotting the convoy and grassing it up, the new comms kit which makes it easy for forces to link up and share info, and the cops themselves getting wiser and more together (even if under duress), whilst ravers increasingly dumb themselves down and seem to be “co-dependent” (i.e. crews only working together because certain people have venues/vehicles/drugs) rather than “co-operative”…

A convoy is fun but unless you are prepared to push through road blocks and I am not suggesting you should, but what’s the point, its just a hazard that will alert the authorities, its illegal and dangerous at anytime of the day or night and they should be discouraged.

If the venue had been last used last year I would not call that being rinsed, and if you can believe the report, they had no idea that it was to be used again. If the venue had been anywhere in Sussex I would of expected the OB to of had a plan to stop any happening. and their going over the top is just sending out a message beyond the party people that went there.

If you want to party in areas that are having a clamp down then you can only hope to get the night any more is a bonus, but you need to be sneaky to get that. But there will be ramifications if you push against the tide.

I think it would have been better if they had gone where there was a better chance to have a tek and left the area to rest. however you cant really be sure where is the right area until its tried and it sounds like it would of been a good one , I dont think blame should be cast for going that way as everyone should of been aware that they dont want it in the area and nobody was forced to go.

If you have some time check out this COOL website:
