until 2004 you could name rigs, DJ’s, what your mates got up to on any forum – here, SJ, DSI or anywhere else and no one got any hassle whatsover off the feds…
it wasn’t that the cops weren’t lurking even then but raves were seen as mischief rather than anti social behaviour or even serious crime and the problems with mindless damage/venues being rinsed hadn’t become so apparent.
its only because raves became a “victim of their own success” in some areas and there was a backlash from normal people who demanded more action against them (and a response from the cops) that we have to self-censor ourselves so harshly…
Anyway Ricky didn’t name any crews, admitted his mistake and although I may have worded things differently myself, I don’t see a problem with him sounding off about some real issues that occured at the party he went to (which others have mentioned in another thread that may be about the same event).
TBH if I had spent time, money and energy travelling 100+ miles to a party with a bad atmosphere where incidents of violence occured I would be equally pissed off and wanted to sound off about it – indeed I have done so many times in the past on here.
I have seen various similar incidents at parties this season myself (even in “fluffy” East Anglia) – if its not some beef with the cops, its some idiot trying to flex and front and prove themselves just like in the “townie” scene.
IMO the people who are causing the trouble and spreading any sort of hate/anger at parties are far worse and doing more damage than anything the cops can do. (The increasing trend towards violent incidents at all social events (even legal ones) hasn’t gone unnoticed by the authorities either..)
