Unfortunatly I can see how this is becoming more violent with the amount of partys that get shut down these days. People are just getting pissed off, and fightings the only was that they can think they will solve this.Thing is, that isn’t going to help. You can try and fight the police but they’re better equipped and better trained. Surely its better to reason with them and even be nice to them – then they’re all tooled up with no-one to bash and really feel like party poopers instead.

However, a more realistic side of me thinks that what you predict may happen and the consequences could be even more draconian legislation … :hopeless:

also wider society itself is getting more violent.

not too far away from where all this happened there was a big fault with the electric cables for the trains this weekend so there were massive delays at every station in Suffolk and Essex on that line…

at some stations the normal middle england commuters nearly rioted as there weren’t enough replacement buses – passengers and staff started swearing at each other, old people were shoved to the floor in the rush for the buses, cops had to be called in to restore order..

if this can happen at a train station with supposedly sober more mature people; hardly surprising things kick off at unlicensed gatherings like raves when there is a crisis situation!

    Very true!

“The police should realise most of these events are no harm and for such a gathering of people are very peaceful as long as land isn’t harmed and any mess cleared up and those organising try there upmost to cater for everything needed including destination.”

:hopeless: The problem is a lot of times things get out of hand forcing the police to take action. Like that event in North london – apparently it was organised on some nature reserve illegally. And what’s worst is the revellers didn’t clear up afterwards.
Im all for raves n i reckon if we just showed sum respekt to the venue and locals in the area we wudnt be gettin all this hassle…:groucho:

exactly everything that u take with you to the site shud leave with u too apart from the obvious ……………rugsssssssssssssssssss:groucho:

unfortunately we were discussing this on here about 4 years ago when the problems with bad venue choice, rubbish and vandalism of indoor venues were starting to manifest themselves…

a few listened but many more just “ignored bad news” and carried on as normal (cops weren’t as efficient at stopping parties or prosecuting organisers then)….

Maybe. But I’m still willing to give it a try. Watch this space in 2007 :groucho:

sadly unlikely – it didn’t work for the miners or the first lot of travellers and it is unlikely to work now

“Activist video” was treated as a cheap content source in the mid 1990s by mainstream media and then discredited by them.

OTOH The ravers who were attacked by cops actually got more airtime than in previous situations and got a chance to put their side of the story across – but I think many attitudes are entrenched due to previous problems caused by 16 years of raves.

The public knows damn well what happens when riot cops are deployed as it happens more regularly these days – for instance when binge drinking gets out of hand or at football matches. They have even been deployed to deal with Christmas Shoppers in London getting out of hand!

The only thing is that the “riots” don’t last very long in the city as the cops have an advantage due to well lit streets and CCTV, so things die down before too many are injured.

There have been a number of clashes between riot cops and youths recently just fuelled by drink or gang-related trouble on housing estates, never mind raves….

there are plenty of people about who would like to take matters into their own hands and deal with ravers equally violently; but are scared of the ravers so they get the cops to carry out their dirty work.

Others may not particularly like all the violence; but still feel that “the law must be upheld”.

you may be able to try and use the videos to help people put in complaints against individual cops/forces but you won’t win hearts and minds; attitudes are too entrenched these days.

its already been done, we relayed a youtube video of suffolk cops knocking peoples heads trying (not that successfully) to shut down a rave earlier this year.

All that happened is that shortly after this video went on youtube handed over the IP details of the the bloke who filmed it; cops must have got a Court order to get his addres from the ISP so he got busted at his house, his camera and all his rave tapes confiscated and investigated by the cops (he got the kit back but fuck knows how much intelligence the cops got!)

we had ravers asking us to take down the video as it was causing more damage to the scene’s image…

if you show a video of people having a fight (whoever they are) many people would just laugh at it like they do at happy slapping rather than feel inspired to “fight the babylon system” or whatever, and people see so much spin they know that a ravers video campaigning for the right to invade others land is gonna be propaganda.

If you’re gonna make videos better off making music videos or fun stuff. I think some friends got loads of footage of the euro-teknivals.

These days Activist/propaganda videos are associated more with people like Al-quaeda or the Pentagon.
