  • hmm – remember these things about 10 yrs ago..

I fully support the ideas behind it – OTOH its way too easy for those who want a fight (be they cops or protesters) to kick off something that affects the entire crowd – I had a look at 10 years worth of reports on these on urban75 and at every one something kicked off with the cops or even angry motorists.

remember also the worlds a harsher, angrier place now, the country’s divided and there’s a war on.

I used to knock about with loads of hippy/eco warrior/squatter types at the time this was happening, and TBH got the impression many (particularly the blokes) liked the “warrior” bit as much as the “eco” bit! – some people thought it was a bit like footy hooligans (rucks with cops, even other protesters) but you could impress the girls more and grow your hair a bit…

and nowadays I associate raves more as much with gary boys / car/cruise scene as with eco-warriors…

come on, how many extra miles do people do to get to parties, how many times do you see people ragging cars across some countryside in summer, how many times has a rave convoy put bare extra traffic into some village?

but fair play to those who are genuniely trying to change the way people see their local area. I’m all for stuff like that “naked road” thing and reducing traffic speed in residential areas etc..

good luck to everyone though and I hope there are not too many casualties.. if its near me and there is a critical mass I might even be there 😉

wow, the boys are back in town, how exilerating!

nah, seriously, if this is still the rts crew, and not a copycat, then it will be amazing. i dont think its true there was trouble at every single rts, some of them were totally peaceful, with the exception of some shouty people, but that dunt count.

total maximum respect to whoever braved sitting in the scafolding to block the traffic. sket–chy.

this is the best example of organised disruption / civil disobedience that i’ve ever witnessed, the vibe really tries to include the public, not alienate them, and in my experience, it worked.

if you cause only one bit of trouble this year, make it this one. (if it happens)
