That is true,… but you had to boil it before hand.. not much good if you didnt bring a kettle and stove! like many people didnt! and what have you got to say about the double charging for the car parking and complete and utter lack of provisions for toilets? if the only thing you think is bollocks in my statement is the water issue its pretty obvious that they fucked up! also the fact that the land owner is gonna be well pissed off with shit everywhere. also sheffstock 5 may well never happen due to the thoughtlessness of the organisers, which means they’ve screwed it for everyone else. (Thanks) Glade was better organised (and i never thought id hear myself say that!) and they managed to do it with 15,000 people in the middle of the worst floods since records began. I never said i didnt have a good time, but that was only down to the organisation of the rig/tent owners and fuckall to do with the overall organisers. Also Eryl tried to ‘borrow’ ICT’S generator without his permission, saying he had spoken to them and they said it was fine. Personally the whole thing stinks – literally. Where was the money spent if not on provisions for the festival goers, i hope the people that actually put the real work in got some! i doubt it tho.
Was this a licensed event? I hope not for the sake of the organisers…
The absence of toilets is likely to have been a criminal breach of the license if it was [as well as complete disregard for the safety of the punters, staff and anyone else who needs to use the site for several months after the event]
Human excrement is very toxic and contaminates water tables if incorrectly dealt with [ask any travellers why they got to such trouble to bury their shit 💡 I have heard horror stories of an entire site getting hep C because shit wasnt properly buried and the water supply they were using was contaminated :hopeless:]
TBH if organisers cant manage the very basic provisions such as toilets they have no business running festivals [even if your supplier of portaloos pulls out at the last minute you can normally find another one though the price may not be as good] and the local council should have prevented the festival starting if the licensing conditions were not met.
In an ideal world if the water supply was going to require boiling they should have warned festival goers beforehand and let them have the choice to bring their own water onsite  [the water supplier would have been able to advise them of this when the bowsers were booked for the festy] but the build up to a festival is frantic and stuff does sometimes get overlooked.
I am glad that people going still had fun 😉
think they had a tens although im not sure after the complete lack of any kind of organisation. Just wondering what differences does burying your shit make as surely it is still there, (so can still poison the water table/eco system) im not being argumentative as i did try to cover mine up, but is the difference purely asthetic.. just wondering for future ref.. looks like they have well and trully fucked it up for others tho as previously things have gone on there with tens and the land owner has been sound cause they knew what they were doing. Think the land owner might have second thought before he lets this happen again. It really annoys me how people can be so thoughtless. Some free parties are organised better with more thought for the party goers and they dont take money beofre hand they actually go out on a limb to make sure most bases are covered. I actaully want a respose from the organisers. Sort it out Spark plug! surely i cant be the only one that thought this was a complete shambles!

EXACTLY!!!
It breaks down faster and doesnt become toxic as quickley as oxigen is cut off water run off after rains also cant get to it and its filterd through the soil. also flys, dogs ect cant get to it.
what he said – thanks Mr AHC
Well, I went, met some old and new friends, had a good time.
TBH I went prepared in the same way as a free party. I wasn’t surprised at what I found or didn’t find when I got there. The organisers and crews provided cover (thank God), music and people. I was pretty happy.
Provided the area was cleared of litter etc (which was happening) I dont see why the landowner would be so devostated. Unless he goes rooting through the undergrowth on a turd hunt.:weee:
As for the money, a few coins got me a good weekend. I don’t suppose anyone is gonna retire on the profits..if there were any.
Wow. What an amazing night. Think i’m gonna sack off dodgy leeds warehouse parties and mission it down south to party with the beautiful people of sheffield more often. Really, really, really glad i didn’t need my usual coming up poo – Shefstock cru let’s build some compost toilets next year!

oh and ive got quite a few photos, i might post em but there jus of me n mates so there might not but much point! u got facebook? i got em on there xxx
heres my take on the night.
arrived on sat night and blagged way in, parked down near the rigs.
gate people seemed intent on only cash, offering them a visa card they just told us to head down to the site. on getting past these poors souls i realised there were no other marshalls/security/site helpers/first aiders!!
Each rig had set up pretty well considering and all credit for this must go to them and not the event organisors. lack of hardcore was a bit of sour point for me. no techno, no DnB :hopeless:
3 chillouts
1 hard house tent
marquee with bands in
1 housey housey tent
1 reggae tent, by far the best system at the event. stonking bassline.
1 bar made out of a 2 man tent!!
a stall selling utter market shite but did have nice glowing lights to help the munted part with their cash(flashing always does the trick)
and a caravan cafe which i thought was the highlight of the event. good to meet up with a few old friends. also mate went asking to get a set for a known producer/DJ he was told by the rig owner ‘ were fully booked’ (WTF lol) after asking someone else who then snapped at him saying something along the lines of ‘i organised this event and dont need the stress blah blah blah’ err yea ok!! to much trouble was it, arrogance is the answer!! having no general problem with the rig owners as all of them was doing their best.
but the organsition for the attendees was very poor. (see list)
i find it incredible no one was managing parking at all, which in turn meant the entry was blocked off to emergency vehicles(how stupid!!) no toilets and things like that is just plain wrong!! cant be arsed to carry on moaning so just see list and make your own minds up.
if you think im just trying to slate them then your wrong. ive got previous experience in this field and find it amazing if no court cases come of this regarding numerous breaches. take this as criticism or take as knowledge to put forward to the future, it matters to me not.
1. no real parking
2. no designated camping area
3. no first aid area
4. no first aiders
5. no marshells on site
6. no security
7. no toilets
8. no rubbish/waste collection point
9. no recycling units
10. no childrens area
11. no visible water supply
12. no counselling/support/advice unit
13. no safe lit area
14. no designated fire marshalls or fire spots
15. no hardcore
16. NO EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS!!!!!
16 being one of the most important!
also i heard on a news story on the radio ( ill try n find it) that a body of a 15 year old was found in the woods at the event, heard them say it was drugs related.
also a friend has had his car damaged whilst at the event. a pole from one of the marquees fell and hit his car, smashing the windowscreen and denting/scratching 2 panels on his car. his insurance have asked him to obtain contact details of the events public liability insurance so the matter can be resolved.i dont have a myspace account so cant leave a message on the website.
Also, anyone that paid to go are officially members for 1year, which should mean you are entitled to see the figures/monies raised at the event. they should have the all the figures of what was spent, what is paid and what is profit and then they should allow all members to see where their donations are being in reltion to this members club, it cant be a members club if they hide the info from the members.
see you all next year…..
It was always billed as a free party. bit annoyed we had to pay for it, but pleased at set up etc. Sheffield’s always a great, friendly place for a party. All that stuff you listed ‘funkyfoo’ would never be available at a free party anyway. I for one was pleased about being able to park practically next to a rig and not having to suffer the stink of a festival toilet. Outdoor party people should know to bring a shovel, and who wants security or marshalls? + nice to be somewhere you could have a fire(while it was dry). There should be more like this.
I beg to differ.
At the free parties I go to there is always a full first aid kit with competent user, some attempt to manage the parking, rubbish collection points, recycling points, counsellors available should they be required, shovel for digging holes for toilets, a water supply for those who didnt bring any, etc. Of course this means the crew is busy a lot of the night but the punters help out a lot and they all lookout for each other.
A free party means you dont get charged at the door – if you are charging then the law says that basic health and safety need to be prepared for and easily located. The toilets are the single most important aspect which needs to be addressed – be they portaloos or compost toilets. Closely followed by emergency vehicle access and emergency services such as first aid. Did they even have a way of calling emergency services on to the site should the need arise? And who knew where the nearest A&E was and had the clout to decide someone needed to be taken there?
I have to say that a fiver a head does not allow the budget required to provide all these H&S requirements :noway: and I will be pleasantly amazed if they had any public liability insurance….for the damage to the car that guy may end up sueing the organisers :hiding:
dunno about the rest (dont have much experience like) but definately a first aid kit/user is just common sense innit
its quite easy to go on a basic first aid course as well, a lot of proffesions have to go on them
I see they are trying to claim its a private members club…but without membership documents and checks of these at the door these wont hold up as an excuse/reason for the absence of H&S. In fact, as they dont own the grounds of the festival, would not excuse them from the H&S requirements anyway…
