Didn’t take long but who doubted it would?
There’s Already A Silk Road 3.0 – Business Insider
What’s the chances it’s not a honeypot?
who would be dumb enough to use the 2nd reboot of a market that has been shutdown twice?
got to give you the nod on calling it a honeypot.
With everything that’s happened to the markets recently. I find it very hard to think that many people would rather do the deal in an apparently hidden view of the world, instead of doing the same deal in person.
i mean if i was a vendor who made it through SR1 and SR2 without getting in trouble i’d have to call it quits before getting on SR3. your luck can only last so long.
I agree with that.
i bet its hard to step away of you’re getting thousands of dollars in bitcoins a week and then rolling those over into currency but money doesn’t buy you a better cell in prison.
Yeah. Once you start having the cash rolling in it’s very hard to do without it from then on, You have to carry on the vending to enjoy the luxuries you are getting used to.
yeah, i mean i’m sure there are a few darknet vendors not in it for the money, but just a few.
also i’m sure some people vend online and deal in real life so if you take away their online prescence they have to move alot more product on the ground.
all and all its kind of a shit situation that the darknets didn’t develop in a way that can effectively keep the police out.
The new darkmarket software that’s in development will be fully decentralized so the software runs on everybodies system instead of a central server so at best the cops will only be able to take down individual hosts running the software but the market will continue unhindered. Probably the most promising approach being developed.
hopefully that is bulletproof and does what its supposed to, but still good old fashioned police work will be needed… if they can get one guy and get him to roll on some other people they can put a dent in it.
i think the biggest problem is going to be consumer faith after all these busts even if it is fully decentralized alot of peoples faith will have been shaken too much for them to really trust it.
It’s impossible to tell whether you’re using a genuine, trustworthy vendor or an undercover narc flogging you drugs and hoarding users addresses and details anyway. With the amazing succes LEA’s rae having taking down the markets now I think i’d prefer using a trusted source you know personally that take the risk with za market ATM.
oh yeah, i’ll have heard if my guy got picked up through the grapevine and is trying to roll on people… but some dude sending me shit through the mail ehhhhhhh i better actually know them. i know some higher ups who would get stuff through the mail but it wasn’t bought with bitcoin.
Some potential info on how the feds may have uncloaked some of the hidden servers that they took down over the weekend.
Silk Road, other Tor ?darknet? sites may have been ?decloaked? through DDoS [Updated] | Ars Technica
