Just got some speedcore off the net, Way to nosiy 4 me to.
I thought Square Pusher on acid was mad, but this stuff would blow my brain.
Think I need to listin to more… Any Good Tracks I should get hold of before I make My mind up about this crazy music. :teeth:
So I gather none of you are into bit of Kylie or usher then, or the best ever of all dj’s the one and only Tim westwood!!!lol!! :embarasse
Drum and bass is probably the music that got me into the whole rave scene its great at freeparties. But I find at pay events it tends to atract alot of rudeboys who have attitude and that has kinda put me off it a bit!! and of coarse the whole mcin thing when I tell people im into drum and bass they tend to presume im into mc’s aswell which really IS NOT the case!! maybe im just being narrow minded but does anyone else think this?
MC’s have killed many a good D+B tune.
I’m not really in2 D+B,but i can appreciate someone playin it well.
We once took our rig 2 the St Pauls carnival,2b part of a D+B rig. The DJ’s
were ok,but there was a never ending line of MC’s-all pretty shite an all. Never wanna hear another one ever.
anc – terrorklänge
i have to agree MC’s on the whole tend to murder what would otherwise be a quality tune
I hated mc’s till went best of britsh with my whistle really thought they were just shouting at me “whistlel posse blow”
When I am in my car with s v tape on the mc’s get on my tits 50% of the time. [has to b live]
Mc Trip is a dude still yet to see him live but he dose hip hop as well so what he says is not the same old shit.
A good live Mc will keep me on the dance floor all night, prob go chill if I did not have someone shouting “come on!!!”
Mc Foxy is cool and has not got his head up his ass like most of the ‘top’ Mc’s.
Love it when they get the crowd to shout back to them, it really get me going.
Mc cd knows when to shut up. most mc’s love the sound of there own voice a little to much! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
Also like slower breaks, British hip hop and sometimes techno (yes I will have a stomp in front of Storm now and then 😀 )
Do you mean Storm as in Storm the dj? top man.. least he never sold out!
Actually taking about mc’s, I went to uproar a couple of weeks ago and there was the most anoying man mcing all night there was just no need and when Mark Eg played his set man was he told!!! very funny indeed watching mark EG take the microphone and say “so what do u all think to my mc” he may not of ment anything by it but it sounded like a bit of a dig to me!!! I can kind of appreciate mc storm because I think he was the first person to do the whole scratching with your mouth thing I rekon that sounds really cool!! But anything else he does is just rubbish like all the rest. They seem to just shout random bolloks and seem to completely ruin what could have been a brilliant build up in a tune!!
MC’s in small doses are OK – OTOH what does piss me off is the egos. someone I know was promoting commercial D&B nights at a local venue, when two MC’s literally had a fistfight over the mic in the front of the stage.
Security had to move in, a statement was made by the venue owners to old bill, his entire string of future events was cancelled; he must have lost hundreds if not thousands in spend on flyers not to mention damage to his sound systems brand image…. just because of two peoples egos  and these were people he was trying to give an outlet to..
I’ve even seen MCs fighting each other (albeit rather half-heartedly) at a Ridgeway party…
its OK when people have positive lyrics or even political ones which are dissing the system rather than rival crews but a lot of MC stuff is bullshit rude bwoy posturing bigging up violence and crime … I think people should realise their music is powerful and have some responsibility..
some of my friends run a free party system which plays D&B but they have a no MC’s policy …..
actually meant Storm as in Storm sound system (the rig in our area which plays more 4/4 stuff than D&B)
yeah thats why im not into hip hop coz it all seems to be about bitches and ho’s! Although again I can completely appreciate it when someone is rapping about something meanigful and not going on about himself or how he is STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON!! I meen what does that meen? I used to rate eminem before he became commertial coz he was original but I went to see him at the bowl and I have now changed my view about him coz he was miming man!! wot the fuk!! cyprus Hill are a hip hop band that I can completely appreciate. They where with emeinem and the sound system fucked up when they where on!!(poor them) The bongo man saved the day though and kept the crowd going!!
Thanx for that General much appreciated, cant make it tonight though as I have work tommorow!! feel free to pass any other info on as I am kinda out of the loophole haven’t been partying in a year due to things getting a bit messy with the driving and all that. Dunno if you recived my pm im not really a computer wiz!! so got a bit confused when I tried to reply! :star:
i love ma jungle, started of old skul d n b then techno, gabba etc, but i’m lately into ragga jungle and getting into reggae, i like the music to be hard, when i’m whizzed up, but i like all sorts of ragga jungle, its ma nu thing!
i also like old punk…i am not an old punk though! I like certain mc’s, but only if they go with the flo of the tune and don’t try to over shadow the tune to get attention – some really good mc’s get right into it and don’t care about the crowd..it wicked.
before i was such a music snob thinking ravers were chavs!! but I have been partying for about 8 years now free and pay ones and i love the atmosphere (and the fact you don’t have to get dressed up) and no-ones having a competition with you except on the dancefloor, which is cool cos give me a bit of base and i get such bad attitude when i’m dancing, i like hard step jungle/d n b, ocasionally jump up d n b, but i hate ‘rollers’ you need loadsa whizz to keep up, they just good for mixing really, i’ve got into a record label called Phat Trax lately, quite old skul, from Reading, if anyone can help me find out more about them cool, i’m collecting the vinyl, only got a couple though, so if anyones heard of anywhere in edinburgh that sells cooler!!
How would you compare a dnb pay event to a dnb freeparty? call me narrow minded I adore dnb just seem to have been put off with all the attitude at pay events?
However at a freeparty I would be at the dnb rig all night coz it just seems to be alot happier, its not dark and sweaty and I dont feel like a sardeen in a can. I cant understand why anyone would enjoy going out somewhere and being crushed all night just so they can get a glimpse of the d.j!
Dont really here much hardhouse at freeparties but I love it so have to go to pay events but they are always really friendly and im not crushed!
As for techno, gabba, hardcore or anything dirty freeparty or pay event I have never come across anyone that has wanted to start a fight. I think it has alot to do with all the pills though!!
I find alot of people smoke weed and drink stella at pay events which are both downers! maybe im just labelling thing to much though? :rainbow:
:omg:
you misunderstand me!! Sometimes people can’t get out to free parties, due to babysitters (my own prob.) or work or no lifts etc, and they wanna party so they go to pay events.. I actually never used to pay i always knew someone who’d get me in free….i only paid when i went to see Krust…who i love and ed rush/optical who are some of my favourites, if it was johnny L i would pay aswell!!!But i have been to squat parties, free parties whatever you call them, and i agree they are miles better! But you get people puffing ganja there and drinking cheap beer, but its worse at pay events, cos they get bad attitude, and i find when i go to pay events at a ‘proper’ night, i feel under pressure not to look such a scruff bucket, and i get nervous too! So i end up taking loadsa base which makes me obvoiusly not so shy, and i can dance all night and enjoy it,
Also I went to PLUR in london some years back, that was fucking amazing, one of the best times in my life! That was a pay event, but it was basically a big free party..SO I do see your point of view..do you see mine? I don’t think you are being up yourself about the puffers and stella heads, i agree!!! :teeth:
