Synergistas,
After a summer spent at the festivals, the Synergy community is now returning to London to focus on the autumn and winter events we are planning. We are therefore getting in touch to let you know what we’re up to and to invite you all to come and get involved.
The great news at this end is that after many years of struggle, we have finally managed to open the long awaited Synergy Centre, in a large former warehouse in Camberwell, South London. Everyone who sees it says what an amazing space it is – the right combination of exhibition and party space, office / studios and accommodation. Already the centre is fulfilling its role in allowing the members of the Synergy crew to gather on a more regular and on-going basis, strengthening working relationships and transforming the crew into a real community.
Due to the failure of one of our computer’s hard drives, sadly we have lost the details of all of the many people who have over the months expressed interest in getting more involved in Synergy. With no permanent base from which to work, it has been very hard to know how to involve people more but now we have the Centre, we are very keen to make meaningful progress towards achieving our goal of enabling more people to participate.
Broadly speaking, the Centre aims to provide a base from which Synergy can expand the scope of its operations – building a stronger management and admin team as well as supporting the many and various partners in the project to develop their work. We are also committed to providing ‘work based learning’ for young people from the local community and the wider area in how to gain new skills so as to enter into employment and self-employment in the creative and cultural industries. Of course, we will also be supporting projects which also focus on promoting broader ecological awareness, holistic and complementary health education, conscious parenting and hosting social gatherings to discuss wider social, political, economic and spiritual issues alongside exhibitions of the creative work being developed in the centre.
we have arranged a meeting at the new Synergy Centre for this coming Sunday, which will start at 3pm, with a more formal discussion of the development of the centre and forthcoming parties followed by a social gathering with vegetarian food, wine and what ever else people bring.
