oh my god! how did i not see this thread? i was interested in making a freeparty documentary http://partyvibe.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2382&highlight=documentary but put it on hold cos of other commitments. i would love to help with this project. will be about in brighton mainly weekends at the mo, so if u wanna meet up and discuss the plan, then all good.
i can understand people’s caution at this idea, it has great potential power, and could be terrible or brilliant. the more of us who contribute positively and condtructively, the better it will be. i just hope steveo appreciates how sensitive the issue is, and how important it is for the scene. i think he prolly does. just have to go and find out 😉
OTOH I wondered – why didn’t Steveo see that thread (or go looking for it?) we had already hinted it was there and I was thinking of posting it
or even comment on our Media section and take note of the comments on there before making the request.
I think his intentions are ultimately good – it is just the way this all started showed rather a lack of research and empathy with the subjects – it came across as treating this site as a “milk cow” for potential content and subjects, we have had too many mainstream media types doing that already, and too many bad projects…

no offence to steveo, but his lack of insight iinto the scene could be a good thing, as the experience will be fresh and exciting, which will come over in the film, and as far as im concerned i”d rather he document how we do our raves than end up filming some dirty squat with loads of trouble and no repect.
i’d sasy respect to the bloke for taking on this thorny issue, and i dont agree that there has been enough documentation of the scene, especially the more responsible side of things.
hope this happens. 🙂
But that wouldnt make good TV would it!! :teeth:
Given the current party climate this is one of the strangest suggestions i’ve seen. To come out and suddenly suggest this, really sets off alarm bells for me.
If i were doing or considering such a docuementary i would have done prior research before approaching said parties like you have.
You clearly haven’t,
you clearly don’t have much grasp of the scene, and you don’t have any idea whats been going on in the past year.
I don’t trust you for one minute.

I’m certain that they’re just a uni student who is struggling to find any material

UNDERGROUND SOUND!
SHAME YOU MISSED THAT GETTIN PLAYED. EXCUSE THE CAPS LOCK.
the SJ threads are from a different person (sam). He’s spammed their entire board as well…. TBH not surprised he got what for, particularly as the documentary thread was discussed by people from the scene and also got criticism there as well.
It makes me wonder though, did sam (assuming they are not the same person) not talk to steveo and discuss how to approach people?
2 kids with a camcorder do not a production company make
they do, just not the best. put your handbag away, sir. :lol_big:
