probably wasn’t that different from today except less sure about identity, a lot more stressed because of exams etc and had less realistic ambitions about what I could achieve (then again no one really could have predicted that the Internet would first arrive then within years remove as much or more paid work in the creative industries as it actually created)
That said I might even have been more resourceful, was doing stuff like building audio amps and even a mixer out of junked equipment, radio transmitters (maybe not such a good thing, me and my friends nearly got DTI called on us for knocking out comms to most of the buses as they were still on band II) and I could modify computers to circuit board level whereas today I think “that is too much effort, I will buy that kit from CPC”
