i was reading a newspaper article on the manchester rave busted by the police a few days ago and thought this takes me back! i thought this was just a isolated one off event but after searching i cant believe that the rave community is still alive and kicking! i first went to one with our kid in 1993 (yep im one of the “old skool” ) manchester ravers may remember it when all across the outer-rim especially ancoats mills and areas of salford every weekend there was multiple sound systems pumping out for days straight. unfortunately areas like ancoats are now developed into flats/apartments and the police seem to be a little more agressive nowadays that they did back then saying that it was a constant war between police and the rave community every weekend. this got worse in the mid 90s along with gang warfare creeping in as well too many nasty things started happening this is why i stopped going in 1996. coming back to present day its great to see that the rave community is just one big party that never ends. :bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl

Yeah some good partys still going on seems to be a bit more trouble these days though police/scallys. but normally wont effect the party that much unless closed down.

Hi ruff beat provider 🙂 ive seen many bad things happen and too many people hurt thanks to scallys, it doesnt surprise me that they try to bring the rave scene down with their “dont care i just wanna fight” attitude. i thought thats what the high street on a saturday night was for! im not sure why the police take a very dim view to the scene nowadays but in the early 90s i cant say the police were 100% ok but most of the time they used to just “keep an eye on things” but with it being manchester they used to get jittery when the local gangster types used to show up and the problems not far behind them!

I was in the music for ages beforehand but went to my first rave in 93 and went to my first real “free party” outdoor rave in around 95-96 and I’ve been following it ever since.

It’s true that it’s more difficult for people to have a good time just lately, but it’s only been the last couple of years that it’s been this way. As far as I can see it’s pressure from the public and landowners because certain areas have cained over and over by crews and people are getting fed up. Plus the shadier element has prompted coppers to look in to things more eg theft, mugging, violence etc at parties. Hopefully people will learn from this and pull through it and parties will come out stronger and better organised the other end.
