its a shame the whole thingg today has made everyone turn the other way when yestrday in scotland the future was looking slightly more hopeful and then this goes and eclipses it. if fair trade was the only trade this wouldnt of happened , the world trade centre was destroyed because of the trade and greed of western countries and neglect towards the rest of the world who depite that are somewhat richerin soul than most of us here in the western world . also somewhat an irony about the olympics , g8 and london bombs all with in a few days of each other. although my heart goes out to those killed today in the london undergrounds etc what about all those dieng every 3 seconds in africa what of them has everyone forgotten them just because they dont live on your door step in your country , isnt that greed , selfishness and denial!!!
Just a side note – 14 people died in a single attack in Iraq last night, and the story wasn’t even one of the main stories under World > Middle East on the BBC site – it was a small text link on the right. Just for perspective.
our government seems somewhat racist, those 14 people deserve as much attenetion as those today in london the g8 leaders better make some decent decisions or there shall be hell to pay because there is a lot of people that wont settle for the injust way they behave for any longer. Like said last night if they can spend the amount of money they did on iraq then they can bloody well cancel det and give fair treatment no matter your colour veiw etc but fair trade and veganism could save the world

here here!!
I can understand why the families of those killed in iraq and other places want revenge….
but dont believe at all that all that the people who carry out these attacks are actually “acting on the behalf of all innocent iraqis”…. many are the same people carrying out the attacks in iraq on civillians (which I agree does not get enough publicity) some are rich kids from Saudi Arabia and even the UK with chips on their shoulders, they are often just doing it for the enjoyment of watching people suffer, they are the same as the muggers in the London parties etc but better equipped….
they want to be warlords rather than liberators…
I don’t like to play the race card but remember that I am Asian and I have come across these groups before… they try to recruit people in London universities and colleges.
the islamic militants are in Malaysia as well stirring up trouble (some of my family are musicians and they have problems with the militants shutting down and trashing gigs)
but on all the sides, east and west its the ultimate macho fantasy once again – a bunch of angry young (and not so young) men using the rest of the world as pawns whilst they play their power games and other innocents getting hurt
they don’t even have the courage to take the war to the world leaders or G8 (because they know there is stacks of security), they just attack normal people in London
a few more western bodies doesn’t even the score.. – the west has enough firepower to turn Iraq to rubble, and eliminate any of the population that poses a threat. The only reason it does not do so is that the oil would go up in flames..
and we are dealing with people who don’t actually want a place at the table, they want to blow the table and everyone sitting at it sky high…
this event won’t make Londoners cave in, it will make them stronger – in the same way that bombs on baghdad and falluja will only make iraqis stronger and more determined to fight. all this incident has done is taken the war to street level, like locals vs asylum seekers after a weekend binge-drinking (I bet there’s gonna be a bit of that this weekend in cities around the UK now!)
we can understand why these things happen – and certainly foreign policy must change so as not to encourage people in other nations to be driven to desparate measures but we should never accept violence as routine.
otherwise everyone will feel they have a right to respond in kind.
Britain’s people and authorities often forget that muslim extremists (or the IRA) aren’t the only peopel who can turn to terrorism, and even “normal criminals” are starting to use IEDs (commonplace in Liverpool for instance)
Remember the last attack on London was a white man acting for the extreme right…
how long before an activist event such as a march or even a party gets turned over?
have just got back from London with my wife and baby… we had an early appointment at the swedish embassy
we were so lucky, as we were on the tube in Kings Cross about 20 minutes before the bomb exploded there
we followed advice to remain where we were until about 12 O Clock.
by then it was clear that this was a terrorist attack
a complete stranger saw us looking lost with our baby and said “you look like you want to get out of london”, and gave us a lift to Woking so we could catch a train back to the Westcountry
I don’t know what we would have done without that act of human kindness… I suppose we’d still be stranded
the emergency services acted brilliantly
my thoughts are with all those whose family or friends have been killed or injured
to people who say “this is about time – we can’t carry on being cunts and killing Iraqis” I say fuck you innocent people are dead
so whats new, get a grip.
I’m pleased to hear you and yours are ok G. Here’s hoping you find some peace today…
use, seriously, have a bit of sensitivity for those affected for god’s sake. glad u and your family ok globalloon
Uhn, I thought I was?!
REALLY SORRY SITE, i meant use, put your name down coz i was still half asleep!!!!!
yeah, yeah! I recon you must have it in for me… 🙂
nah, sorry, im sick of this hypocracy. people die all over the world every day, and just because yesterdays victims were rich and white everyone is going on about how fucking terrible it is. every single one of us here on this site bears the responsiblity for the terror that our elected government has inflicted on the world, and when that terror comes back home, i dont think we are in any position to complain.
The only way to salvation is forgiveness!!! 21st of december 2012 back to our natural mayan calendar and the beginning of a new dimension , sort your problems out before then cos after the whole world can tap into your consions
I agree with you, but there’s a good point here about showing some consideration to the people affected…
