Hey there guys, I’m new. 🙂

I’m thinking of going to study in Norwich later this year, and I wondered if any of you guys could advise me on the scene there? I know theres plenty of free parties and stuff going on in the east in general, but hows the city itself? Plenty of bangin tunes and masheds? Or a bit boring?

Would appreciate any opinions!

Hey Greb,

I’m not from Norwich but I’m fairly near. It’s always been my closest city and I’m quite fond of the place and have a few friends there.

The underground music scene is fairly large but it’s not expressed in the clubs unfortunately. There are few clubs left that support underground stuff in Norwich and a lot of the crews seem to be pushed in to the smaller pub/clubs in favour of bands or big name dj’s.

I like the city and I’m sure you would too. It’s just the right balance for me. Not too mental but not too quiet.

Don’t know about the Uni or the students that attend. There is a couple of record shops, neither are worth shouting about too much, although Soundclash is good for hip-hop, punk & dnb. Whitelabel in the mall caters for most things.

Wow, active forum! Thanks for the welcome guys.

Biotech – I’ve had my heart set on going to Norwich for ages, but I’m just a little worried now that it’s going to live up to its stereotype. 😛 It sounds like its a toss up between a less lively nightlife compared to other cities, but lots of awesome free parties?

Any other east anglicans can comment?

I’m first to admit that my education comes a distant second to avin a fuckin brill time, so what would you guys say is the absolute best city to rave in? I love my psy trance, and i’m into drum ‘b’ bass, electro ect but I’m not so much bothered by the music, just meeting likeminded people and dancing! Reccomendations guys?

norwich is allright…after living here all my life however am starting to get a bit fed up of it… id say it would be a pretty good city to come to for uni out of all the ones ive visited…

people are all pretty cool, cant say ive ever had any trouble in all my 21 years…

nightlife isnt all that… tho if you go to the right events it can be really good.
we do the occasional jungle/dnb/reaggae night though theres a lack of places to do them in… pleanty of breakbeat boolshe…

if you end up coming to nozza heres some nights you should definately check!

theres the Reggae lot (worth checking out) – Rebel Lion, Foundation Sound, Free King Sound, Roots Renegade

other broader styles…. Jungle/Dubstep/Breaks etc…
Amen-tal / Harmitage Shanks / Tear Out /

and as for the party scene….theres pretty much allways one on every weekend… tho as youve probably heard some leave a little to be desired!

I’m moving up to Norwich to go to uni myself, haven’t had chance to check out anything up there as yet, I know there’s a fair bit going on in terms of live music but most of my mates that used to go up there for clubs head over Cambridge way these days but that’s partially coz they like a change of scene, once I’m up there I’ll have a hunt round and PM you any interesting details raaa

Thanks for all this awesome help! I mean, I could go down there myself but its kinda hard to gauge the important stuff with a day trip. (like availability of research chemicals) Probably just over thinking things again, If it’s not lively enough in Norwich, I’ll just create a scene. raaa

norwich is ok, although i do find the night life boring, just live for the weekend, as others have said your pretty much garanteed a party every weekend, although as also said some do leave alittle to be desired, norfolk boys/girls love to have it large :bounce_g: :bounce_g: :bounce_g: :bounce_g:

i moved from manchester to norwich, its not a bad lil city some cool shops, don’t really go clubbing much its not my thing but there are a few lil nights that i go to and plenty of illigals if you can get to them.

the place has grown on me in the 3 years that i have been down here
even if my rents more expensive for a flat thats half the size lol
