in recent times I’ve found violence at raves is caused by all sorts of factors and its not that easy to judge someones background or ethnicity. For instance I might attend a rave and people think I’m from everywhere from Shanghai to Romford.

These “travellers” could easily have been a rum mixture of sterotypical “Irish travellers” actually living on site, as well as other English-born criminals unrelated to the first group but also turning up to cause trouble like what happens at London raves. People can often talk up their links with “big families” and “big people” (I could claim I was related to Triads if I wanted to), and there are plenty of jumped up little boys who think they are hard and will do low-level theft, bullying and intimidation, but half of them live with their mums on some shitty estate.

You can’t exactly get some social worker to say “would you chaps mind stopping this fight for 5 mins whilst you fill in ethnic origin forms? you can carry on beating the shit out of each other once we are done”

That said from what I have heard (I wasn’t there, tend to avoid known “flashpoint” areas) the people causing this trouble were met with a counter-attack and one of them (the biggest one!) was actually knocked out during a fight (which caused the party to shut and cops and ambulance to turn up)

I have a nasty feeling the cops know exactly who is who and what is happening and are playing everyone off against one another.

Then once a serious violent incident occurs at an illegal rave (such as a stabbing, shooting or mass fight) the Police can claim the authority to use all necessary means to close down these events and stop further ones from occuring (backed up by extra cash from the Home Office) as they represent ” a risk of public disorder and a risk to peoples health and safety” – and they can subsequently nick everyone they are after when it all kicks off..
