I wonder if all the recent publicity on illegal parties have made police look for any links between them and legal events in an effort to be seen to “do something”.
As has already been said … totally counter-productive too … :you_crazy
not sure if its made that much difference TBH – cops have never accepted electronic dance music scenes because their culture is seen to be intertwined with a larger amount of drug use than other music scenes.
however I think the genie got let out of the bottle back in the early 90s and can’t be shoved back in there however many cops they send out to catch it…. drug culture became mainstream back then and even if they closed down every dance music event and every illegal rave people would do drugs in their own houses whilst gathering together or even sat on their own surfing the internet, and there would be fuck all really the authorities could do about this.
Wider society and the cops simply need to accept that well-run “rave-type discos” (as cops like to call them) in licensed venues are the lesser of many evils and should be encouraged rather than more obstacles put in promoters’ paths…
