its a shame the building in Haughley got rinsed and smashed up, if people were more discreet and sensible it could probably have made a good squat for someone…
POLICE are warning landlords to be on their guard after break-ins led to an illegal rave and a party being held in mid Suffolk.
At around 8.45pm on Friday police received reports of a burglary at a barn in Wetherden Road, Great Ashfield. Around 50 people were found to be attending an illegal rave there, which officers closed down. The building was then secured.
A 17-year-old man from Haverhill was reported for consideration of prosecution for possession of cannabis and a 17-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds was given a fixed penalty notice for disorder.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “An 18-year-old man from Haverhill also received a warning for possession of cannabis. A 24-year-old man from King’s Lynn was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has been released on police bail, to return to Bury Police Station on March 23.
“A 17-year-old man was given a warning for possession of cannabis. A 21-year-old male from Fressingfield received a warning for possession of cannabis.”
At around 5.20am on Saturday police also received reports of a burglary at an empty building on Station Road in Haughley.
Around 40 people were inside, claiming to be holding a party. Officers contained the building and the people left in the morning, but the property was extensively damaged inside.
Dont really sound like raves TBH.
yep more like a small squat party but cops here can (and do) class any event with over 20 people as a rave, it used to be 100 people but the law was changed in 2005.
There are loads of youths aged 16-25 with small rigs who could put on such an event. what is more ominous is how the cops are classing this as burglary rather than civil trespass, but if the building has been busted into for a obvious party instead of being squatted by geniunely homeless people, its not surprising cops use this argument.
the properly was extensively damaged inside.
thoght the building was empty…:you_crazy

think what they mean is stuff like fixtures and fittings (sinks/toilets etc) which all tend to get trashed unfortunately…
