sounds worryingly like people were busted on licensing violations (normally if its drugs the cops say that when talking to the media)
The area in question looks useable on first sight but is flanked on all corners by farms and villages…
Four people have been arrested during an illegal rave in woodland in Essex.
People living near Chalkney Woods, close to Earls Colne, called police in the early hours of Sunday after hearing loud music.
Officers arrived to find more than 400 people at the rave. They sealed off a nearby road and called out environmental health officers.
Four men aged between 16 and 27 have been arrested in connection with the event.
Insp Jim Shaw said: “We will act quickly to stamp out public nuisances such as these events, which are clearly illegal and pose many dangers.”
another report from This is Essex
Four men were arrested after 400 revellers descended on woods for an illegal rave.
Residents living in Tey Road, Earls Colne, were kept awake by music after the crowd moved into nearby Chalkney Woods on Saturday night.
Margaret Barrett, a parish councillor who lives in Lowefields, said a gate bolt had been broken and rubbish strewn across a clearing, including candles, cans and balloons. She described how there had been drumming and music from about 11pm on Saturday.
Police arrested three men aged 16, 17 and 20 all of Braintree, and a 29-year-old man, of east London, on suspicion of involvement in organising the rave. The 17-year-old was later released. A van and audio equipment were also seized.
9:09am today
I know the owners and to be honest i have made a few calls and to be honest its there own fault!
They were close to houses and broke some locks and cause havock where ever they went. Even some local stores had trouble with shoplifting and they blamed the people who were going to the rig. Im not saying i agree with the store owners as they always blame something on someone.
But by the sounds of it they poorly planned it, Caused havock and also had the rig close to a housing estate. So pretty much they pissed of the locals, the police, and everyone except the ravers.
So harse to say it im glad they got stopped before they got bigger and bigger, so at least people will forget about it in a few weeks and they cant fo round giving ravers/rigs a even bigger bad name
The area in question looks useable on first sight but is flanked on all corners by farms and villages…
And yes you are right
So harse to say it im glad they got stopped before they got bigger and bigger, so at least people will forget about it in a few weeks and they cant fo round giving ravers/rigs a even bigger bad name
shame about that
And its the first and i really hope its the last time i say that to, But im honest and dont belive they should get any credit for this at all, Even some EX-rig owners from essex i spoke to have washed there hands and staying away
this is also one of the first arrests merely for licensing (PEL) violations (instead of arrests under CJA which require a higher burden of proof that the event was causing distress to locals).
Until 2006-01-01 the PEL violations were only summary but not indictable (arrestable) criminal offences (i.e. you could be summonsed to Court at a later date but not arrested at the time of the offence).
The UK criminal law was changed at the start of this year so all criminal offences are now arrestable (at the discretion of the Police).
As for the alleged shoplifting; although shop owners do often exaggerate IME most smaller shops in Essex and Suffolk are owned by the Co-Op group who are a fairly decent company that doesn’t exaggerate this sort of stuff.
And local youths who live in a small village (although they may try it once or twice) can’t get away with raiding the local shop every weekend as eventually someone they know will see them and turn them in! Sadly even today I read posts on other boards from kids who have been to raves (in all areas of the country) bragging about what they nicked on the way there and back and also vandalism/anti-social activities.
The locals aren’t stupid and the very fact that there are rather more youths and vehicles in an village than you normally get is obvious to them.
If both ravers and crews don’t behave reasonably outside the target venue then its clear that any extra trouble is gonna come straight back on those perceived to be organising a rave in the vicinity…
the party was wkd no trouble as far as im concerned, was a stupid place but i dont think they expected the turn out it got. the police shut it down at dead on 6am but they knew it was going on all night as they turned up at bout 12ish and hung around the gates that people would have to get out of to get in their cars. the music was amazing well the techno was. one of my friends lives in Chapel the neighbouring village and they stayed up all night listening to the music so yea it could be heard for miles around. can u put party lines on here?? or is tht a no no?
welcome to partyvibe!
Good to have a few more local people on here but even if you had fun (glad to hear you did) the people who did this are now in some trouble with the law; so the less detail said about this event (such as rigs name, partylines) the better, or it will increase the evidence against them.
ha, i went to this party as it was only 45mins drive away an it was this or bummin in norfolk so this was the obvious choice,
was a terrible location really close to the local village we arrived at 2am an there were loads of villagers out on the street asking what was going on, the road was blocked at the end of the housing estate so our 6 car convoy had to park up right outside houses then had to trek round the first road block,
was a good party the smaller rig was playin sum heavy darkside but only me an my mate seemed to be lovin it, average techno from the main rig, shame the first rig left so early but i think the main rig got nicked so hope they’ll get it back
thats rubbish about the rubbish tho i was helpin clean up i havnt seen a rave spot left that clean in a long time,
loved it when the police came down with attack dogs, everyone shat it thinking they were sniffer dogs, though me an my mate had walked past them to get to the car havin jus smoked a blunt an havin weed on us an they didnt bark,
when they come down i just kept cleaning up, found about a 10s of weed chucked on the floor in 3 diffrent bags an one of my mates was like “ive still got three pills left i better do them now, who wants one”:groucho: gotta love the free drugs
in the end a phat night:crazy:
to mr doolittle as u was not as this event i think it is fair that u do not coment on this their was not any trouble their and was not ant locks broken and wot u read in the papers is a load of shit and i thought u if any1 would now this from over partys getting bad stuff put in the papers from years ago if u now the people who did this talk to them about it and dont slag them off on here thanks a freind
and as for !!! Even some local stores had trouble with shoplifting
the party didnot start till 11 and the only shop in the villige shuts at 10
i think ur comments are unfar mate their was 2 rigs their just cos u got a probblem with 1 of emm dont mean u need to make things seam worse
to be fair I don’t think doolittle was deliberately trying to make things worse – him and his friends love a party just like anyone else and are trying to make things better for people in our area….. but he’s also looking at a wider picture which we all need to do if we want parties to continue. i’ve been partying for years in SE England and then moved area to East Anglia; I didn’t know anybody and doolittle and misssunshine were some of the first people to get in touch with me and introduce me to people on the local party scene.
its true the papers and locals exaggerate problems – but its also true that until recently on the rave forums we as ravers have played down our problems ; the noise, mess and disruption and the problems people cause to wider society when they do too much drugs and become addicted or commit crime.
I know its harsh on people who are in their late teens or early 20s who are just getting into the scene but Its not 1991 any more. Wider society knows all about the rave scene, cops are harsher, locals less tolerant so we have to discuss sensibly both good and bad aspects if these parties are to continue.
even if the breaking of locks and shoplifting are disputed, two other people who attended also said on this thread the event was near a residential area. The villagers were angry enough to get out of their beds and see what was happening.
One girl said her mates (who lived locally) were listening to the music from their house! This is cool if you are young, but for the OAPs who tend to live in these sorts of villages it is an absolute nightmare….
I do feel sorry for people who seem to be fairly new to the game who are already in trouble with the law and have had stuff confiscated. I’ve had trouble with the law myself because of raves and drugs – it is no fun whatsoever and can affect your future in various other ways when you have a criminal record and want jobs etc…
But the reason Suffolk and Essex authorities are harsh is because other crews caned these areas a few years ago since the late 1990s; people were breaking into working farms (not abandoned land), not caring about how noise travels (remember it is nearly flat all around here!) so locals are not putting up with it any more.
The best way to stay out of trouble is if at all possible to pick areas where the locals won’t get so annoyed, checking levels and even being prepared to turn things down if need be; or it is perhaps coming to the stage where using venues with permission and even getting temporary licenses is a better idea.
Incidentally if anyone from the crews which got in trouble needs advice or support (and is willing to accept constructive criticism in some cases!) they are welcome to look on this site or ask questions or even just chat. Everyone makes mistakes when they start out – its a matter of not making them twice…
i agrey with u on all ur points mate yes we should do all we can not to piss any 1 off at partys cos if no 1 conplans no old bill will turn up and thats lovely i just think that mr doolittle nows the people that did this and it was not fair that he read a paper or lissend to 2nd hand info and whent on to websites and slaged them off all he had to do was pick up the phone i was at this party and we did all we could to clear up not piss any 1 off but u cant pls every 1 their was no shop liffting at all and as for people on the street i spoke 2 the farmer whos house is the neariset and he said i didnot even now u were their we all now wot the essex police are like as i have had many dealings with emm in the past after doing partys in essex for 5 years all im saying is if dolittle has a probblem with 1 person from 1 of the 2 crews he should take it up with him and not every1 their
from a party person
wow wow wow Better calm this topic right bloody down!
Right first of all i did not writh the above statments and to be honest the people who do Know me personally would know 100% that im a free party head myself and would never slag off a rig!
i spoke to one person on the phone and the only thing that i have said is that the choice of venue was a shitty idea and they were bound to be busted! AS I SAID ON THE PHONE TO 1 USER OF THIS SITE (u know who you are).
As for Broken locks and damaging property why the fook would i start preaching about that, I have been running Pirate stations for a couple years or so so to be honest i have done my fair share of naughty things. (been through the courts and busted so not fussed who reads this).
I have spoken to the person who used my pc and to be honest i didnt know about this topic till i heard on the phone when i went to book a dj for my events! As said i have spoken to the person who was on my laptop the day this was posted and i have said some very strern words indeed!
So my point is
1 i dont really give a shit what a local paper says about a running rig, as we are all bloody good scapegoats if they want to make a few claims.
2. I wouldnt bother writting this shit anyway as the rig owners i am mates with and have been for a few years or so.
3. I been in shit for a few things to do with partys and radios so i aint gonna start slagging off people who run rigs
Thats it from me!
The person who did write above will not be using this site anymore
