Another sad loss to a family, when will people realise its not a race or a competition? even with todays less active pills 10 is way too many for a single dose in a night…
A teenager died after taking a huge overdose of ecstasy pills at a party, an inquest has heard.
Michael Evans, 17, of Langport, Somerset took between 10 and 13 ecstasy tablets at his best friend’s birthday celebration in July 2005.
The inquest in Taunton heard Michael, who suffered from epilepsy, regularly used various drugs.
Coroner Michael Rose recorded a verdict of death by non-dependent use of drugs, adding it was a “sad case”.
Cardiac failure
The inquest was told that on the evening of 1 July, Michael and a group of friends met at the Black Swan pub in Langport to celebrate the birthday of Martin Biswell.
They left the pub at closing time and went to a party at a friend’s house.
Mr Biswell said Michael had given him two ecstasy pills as a birthday present and that Michael himself had swallowed between 10 and 13 pills during the evening.
“At around 3am Martin started to get very hot and he took his top off,” he said.
“He was sweating and didn’t realise who I was – he kept hallucinating, he couldn’t get up.”
Michael then collapsed, and stopped breathing. An ambulance was called, and paramedics worked to resuscitate him but he died in hospital.
Drugs ‘menace’
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as acute cardiac failure.
Michael’s mother Jean Smith, of Fivehead, near Taunton, told the hearing her son had a temper and “some problems”.
She said: “It’s a tremendous amount of drugs for anyone to take. He was easily influenced, he was doing it to show off.”
Coroner Michael Rose said: “Drugs are a menace in our society and there’s no need for anyone to take any.
“This young boy had little understanding of what he was doing – the cards of life were not well stacked in his favour.”

that’s really gonna help young people respect his opinion and prevent furthur deaths.
when will authorty figures learn if they start spouting bullshit like this, then noone will trust them when they tell the truth?
its like that leah betts thing, her dad sat her in a bath and fed her somestupid ammount of water, and she died because her liver couldnt hack it. “over rehydration” the coroner said, and yet who got the blame her stupid pig dad, or the pills?
pills, whereas if he had known the first thing about how to treat people peaking too hard off e, he wouldnt have killed his own daughter. still, he went off round the country scapegoating a widely enjoyed chemical for his own fatal ignorance.
fucking idiots.

coroners are not always medical doctors – some are just lawyers – I reckon this one was as the ones who are medically qualified will use their title.
Even if they are medically qualified, most take that job because they no longer want to deal with live patients (such as retiring GPs)! it would be like asking a butcher to tell you about the health of your cow instead of a vet.
Their role is only (along with the evidence available) to decide why that particular individual died and break it down into the medical conditions which caused their death, not to speculate on what may or may not cause others to die. you get them all the time saying bicycles are dangerous because a small number of people are involved in road traffic collisions, or toasters are dangerous because someone sticks a knife in one and gets electrocuted.
The problem is these days the media will take a statement from anyone who has a uniform, a degree, a bit of power (or just shouts loud enough!) and publish it as gospel as they have no time or inclination to check the facts.
I read about this a few days ago. Does anybody know if he took 10 pills over the course of the night, or 10 pills in one drop?
he cant have droped them all at once surely!
And not only that but the article doe’s say throuth the course of the night!
I can only drop like 5 sharks at once and that me k for ages like!
I took 8 last weekend and was cunted lol
most i’ve taken is 9, in the end i didn’t feel anything and it made me proper sketchy, couldn’t even move and it felt weird breathing, i wasn’t struggling but i noticed every breath i took, and everyone i did was a really deep one. Not a pleasent experience and not one that i intend to repeat, i learnt my lesson.
there’s no point taking more than 250mg of madman in 24 hours
you can get any more ecstatic and may as well be taking speed
really sad about this guy dying… he wasn’t even 18 yet, i think
