Is it worth me getting down to a mate’s place in London on Saturday night?
If it’s going on he’ll know about it, but not early enough for me to catch a lift with him.
I was there in 2006 and had the phattest weekend of me life… :bounce_fl
very sly
its impossible to tell anything at this time, the cops have been well on top this year… UKtek 2006 may have been fun but it created a backlash that got most of the country locked down..
Thanks 😉
I’m aware of all the security crap, I just don’t wanna waste money on a coach ticket if the weekend aint gonna be worth it. I know that pinky and perky are still sitting on some of the better rigs.
i need to know
on thursday :you_crazy
Sad but understandable. I think I’ll just head down anyway and console myself with the green fair on monday if we don’t get there, and thinkin about it there’s gonna be others around.
Thanx for the reply tho, a yea/nah/dunno was all I was after 🙂
from recent experience (Wales) you only get a day and a morning now then the cops close down all the rigs and start clearing the area.. (because of the backlash from locals who no longer tolerate 3 days of noise and shit)
if you haven’t seen them for a while you might as well just go to London to see your friends, maybe find one night of partying (like a normal weekend) and then something else chilled to do on Monday..

DAMN THOSE PESKY PORKERS!!!
Sounds like that’s how the weekend will unfold, but I’ll keep me fingers crossed… No doubt there will be something going on somewhere that he or his missus will hear about, and monday’s green fair is pretty local.
Even if I’m just sittin around stoned, its better than sittin around not stoned like I’ve had to for most weekends so far this year. Now I’d better get to bed before a backlash from my fish finger sarnie…
Which was the last UKtek was that in the quarry??? That was a phatty but dont think theres gonna be one like that again. I heard there is a decent rig going out and sum otheres may follow so im jus gonna watch this space for now.
I don’t know the wales party august bank holiday last year (brecon) the same weekend as the ‘MEGA RAVE’ wasn’t clamped down on at all, they went on till wendsday
its all about location IMO, the forrest party got shut down coz there was a fire and emergency services couldn’t get in if it had spred
if anything the cops are reacting to the rise in aggression towards them at parties, i was talking to a few cops who were stopping a system setting up at a local cambridge spot a month or so ago, and they were all still very shaken from the riot at the essex party and with other recent events against the polive i don’t think anything to huge will be going down
Yep here it is =
Three police forces in the East are working to prevent illegal raves taking place over the Bank Holiday.
Officers in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk will be working together and with partner agencies to try to prevent unlicensed events in the region. People have been asked to contact police if they see vehicles gathering or if they hear of any events. Earlier this month, Norfolk Police were called to a rave at Horsey, which attracted 1,000 people. Landowners are being told to ensure their land is as secure as possible and access gates are locked. Ch Insp Michael Holdsworth, of Suffolk Police, said: “If any suspicious activities are seen, such as gates being removed or vehicles seen on land that are not normally there, please contact us because they may be making preparations for a rave to take place.”

they could have if people had parked better (the layout was a bit strange TBH)
but this could happen at any large rave rave…
2006 was a turning point as it became the first time that staff from Defra, Natural England and the Environment Agency, Forestry (as well as the Police and local Councils) actually started being really “bothered” about raves.
Before that, most of the public sector environment protection organisations thought they were a minimal problem or even something to joke about..
This was a direct result of the “UKTEK” in Davidstow, Cornwall.
Although much of the litter is cleared up, a rave of that size often means some is left behind because people are simply too tired and there are more people depositing trash than clearing it up – plus no arrangements have been made to actually take the bags off site, not everyone is prepared to take them in their cars, and its possible they are later randomly flytipeed in surrounding areas.
also its simple biology – an extra day of rave means an extra day of human shit, and unlike the old style travellers few people bother to bury it. The locals aren’t standing for it any more (or wanting to stand in it).
I also think each massive rave results in a backlash that affects all the other raves in that county/region, as the cops/locals don’t like being made to look powerless..

I think you’re absolutely right about location. If the locals aint whining and the location is sensible then I imagine the cops just want as easy time as possible, maybe just sending a few down to respectfully keep an eye on the place and chat with the organisers. I reckon that would help create a good impression and cut down the ill-feeling and aggression toward them.
As for the warnings, they’re always trying to *prevent* them, but will they be stupid enough to send in the riot squad once a big but peaceful rave gets going at a considerate location miles from residential areas?
true, but the problem is that this is a very small country with the anomaly that a lot of land is privately owned by rich families and jealously guarded – plus there are locals who will whine even if they can’t hear the rave, just because of stuff like roads being blocked.. or simply the fact that their area is being “invaded”.
it only takes a few idiots to park badly and block up a road and that IMO is one of the biggest causes of problems at raves today (even smaller ones)
