    Alprazolam, also known under the trade names Xanax and Niravam, is a short-acting drug of the benzodiazepine class used to treat moderate to severe anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and as an adjunctive treatment for anxiety associated with major depression. It is also available in an extended release form, Xanax XR. Both forms are now available generically.

    This isnomnia thing is actually driving me CRAZY. actually crazy.

    Ok so i went out to a houseparty Thursday night, didnt have a very good nights sleep Wednesday night. fractured sleep it was. Was awake all day thursday. Went to the party about 10pm. Kept the drug intake to a bare minimum, only 1 gram of ket and a few cans of strongbow. Left the party at about 4am, was quite tired so thought id go home and go straight to bed with a movie. I hardly paid attention to the movie, trying to get to sleep (i like background noise when im sleeping, have done since i was a kid) But i was still awake at 9am!!! Finally fell asleep and slept most of the day till 3pm. Did do anything all day, just lazed around the house, praying i would get a normal nights sleep. Didnt take any ket that day or any drug intake other than nicotine. Went to my boyfriends house and drifted off to sleep at about 10pm but woke up again at midnight. so i just layed there for an hour trying to get back to sleep but knew i wouldnt have any luck. So i thought i would walk briskly back to my house and hopefully that would allow me to get back to sleep. But it didnt and was awake untill about 7.30.

    Slept all day again and was woke up by my boyfriend and our mate at about 6pm with “come on get up- your coming to oxford!” Our mate who you may have heard of, Wombcorpse was promoting a gabber night up in the shire and ofcourse we had to show our support.. was a wicked house party after which was kool. So yea got on the train and went to oxford, danced like a madman to gabber and noise for about 5 hours then went back to this really old old house for a mash-up. Left the party at about 8am. Got on the train back to Brighton which took over 5 hours (god dam rail replacement busses!) and got back in brighton at about 1.30pm. You would have thought by this time i would have been ready to hit the floor. But I wasnt. So i made food and got into bed and watched a couple of films untill i fell asleep. Got to sleep at about 5pm. Then slept right through untill 4pm this evening.

    ARGH!

    So When i woke up today i thought enough is enough. Lets make a doctors appointment and get this shit sorted. I want me some hyptnotics or sedatives. Ive tried Melatonin and 5-HTP but with no luck. Hasnt helped at all. But i know doctors are really hard to get vallium out of.

    So how am i gonna do it?

    I was thinking of dressing normally as i look like hippy scum and we all know what them hippies are like! ..and then going in and telling the doctor my sleeping patterns and that ive tried most of the ‘natural’ ways to help me sleep, with no luck. You think it would be a good idea to throw in something about panic attacks? Maybe say i get sweats and cant face people after i havnt slept? What else? I need a plan!

    sounds like a wicked weekend ! for sure i’d have a week of upset sleep after that anyway, especially if i kept it up for weeks on end.

    but the question that comes to my mind is, what are you actually wanting there ? Is it just help with messed up sleep patterns or are you after the benzodiazepines specifically for some reason 😉

    i think it’s a bad idea to mislead your doctor if you really want help from them. a year or two down the line you might go to them for something serious and they’ll re-read your notes and say “ah i see you had an episode of depressive emotional upsets in 200blah. you obviously have a history of this.”

    otoh if you really are getting anxiety, panic attacks and sweats then fair enough but don’t jazz it up ! of course there’s a few docs who just try to jolly you out of it (got that t shirt myself) but i think most doctors will take it seriously enough. if you have real needs and there’s more than one gp at your practice then keep trying until you find one you can click with and who doesn’t bullshit you, then ask for him/her in future.

    i kind of gathered in another thread near here you might have been kaning things a bit. that’s not one of my things so i can’t speak from experience, but i wouldn’t be surprised if long term karnage was messing up your sleep even though you took it easy this weekend. no doubt someone else can give more informed comment but maybe taking it easy on that front for a few months like you said in t’other thread might be the best way to get back to proper sleep.

    if you want help in breaking the cycle whilst you’re kutting down then i guess you must have some genuine shit going on in your life you can tell your doc about and that it’s giving you trouble in getting to sleep – you may not get vallies out of it but you’ll probably get something to help you drop off !

    sleeplessness sucks :hopeless: take it ez m8 and hope you can get the sleep sorted.

    I do have this problem with asking Dr’s. Its fro panic attack that I get at work. Not one Dr has given me any and its so embrassing when it happens in front of my work mates.

    Valium isn’t a sleeping tablet.

    I think you should just go to your doctor and be honest with him. He might tell you some things that you don’t want to hear but you are much more likely to be able to get proper help if you have open dialogue with him rather than trying to trick him in to giving you drugs that aren’t appropriate anyway.

    Have you tried getting more routine in your life? Perhaps some exercise to help tire you out? What is your diet like?

    I love Valium but there is a time and a place for it and that place is not as a long term option to make you sleep. *hug*

    Are you planning on going to the same doctor that knows you take K? If so, the chances of him perscribing you any meds are small mate.

    if you wanna get some vallies id say its probably easier and cheaper (!) to buy em from a man in the pub 😉 my mate got a prescription from the doc for valium for panic attacks. he got a short script for 2mg one’s and they cost more than the 10mg black market ones that were going round! Id say temazzies are the ones you want if you want something to knock you out. research benzo’s and look for the ones with the shortest half life, means they wont leave you feeling spaced the next day.. i had some xanax, but they didnt really do anything for me.. i cant sleep for shit at the moment either. sucks. :hopeless:

    The best treatment for insomnia for me has always been smoking alot of weed or getting drunk, im not gonna lie!… Stay away from the stimulants man!

    Since i was young ive had on and off spells of insomnia & have been to the doc many times, usually resulting in him giving me some tips of how make yourself tired around bed time or advicing me to buy some nightols/herbal sleep pills available on the shelf. Even though my doc is tight bastard, most doctors can spot a drug user a mile off and wont prescribe them meds unless its vital.

    I got some today. I was amazed. But the Dr was lovely!

    you can buy them cheap enough online if you cant get them from the doc

    Most of those sites are selling fakes. If you are going to buy online I would recommend trying to find a site that other people have had success with.

    ketamine is just as bad if not worse than any stimulant for insomnia. lying in bed trying to sleep on k is enough to drive you mad:crazy:
