  • i am new to the scene + i especially like the chilled attitude of all folks who don;t give A TOSS

The buzz at our outdoor party last weekend was unbelievable- it was the first outdoor event in NI since Aug last year so everyone was well up for it. The expectation from the crowd as we set up the rig (we were delayed so most of the crowd were starting to get impatient) and the roar of satisfaction from them when the music started banging out. Raving under nature is one of the most inspiring feelings ever- the whole night long we had a natural strobe light in the form of a wicked lightning storm close by. It didnt rain on us or anything but at one point there was flashes every 2 secs or so.

The only down point I can think of was the insects in the morning. Everybody looked like they had chicken pox.

There is something about outdoor parties that sets them apart from the rest, but it isnt any one thing which can be defined. The whole package, from the moment you decide ‘hey, lets do a party’, through the organisation and getting a buzz of excitement worked up, to the running around on the day and setting the party up. And of course the night itself. It cannot be beaten.

Yeh man…even the organising’s fun. Trying to suss shit out and runnin around lookin for stuff an tryin to find such an such but the guys whose got it’s mobiles off. Rakes of fun.

driving around the welsh hills in a VW camper that breaks down everytime you take your foot off the clutch……..

hearing the bass reverberating off the hills – driving to the place where you think its going to be, only to find that those pesky welsh hills have deceived you (oh, the days before i learned to use the internet and my local crew thought of using a partyline!)……..

feeling the bass in the pit of your stomach – like you might explode from anticipation, happiness, and god forbid, positivity…….

not getting harassed by creepy blokes in ben sherman shirts who think they’re the dogs bollox and that your dancing is for their entertainment…….

    the music……
    the people…..
    PLUR!!!!!!!

I totally agree. Nicely put too btw.

From an organisers point of view it’s the anticipation getting everything ready and loading it off into the van and driving to the arse end of nowhere… Hopefully getting set up before people or the police arrive… Then once set up and you’ve got a nice wee crowd the look on everyone’s faces when you’re on the decks.. it’s an amazin feeling.. its great when you’ve got the set time that when you start playing its dark an by the time you’ve finished the sun is up.. its shit hot..

From the point of view of going to them the driving around in the dark through country back roads not quite sure where you’re heading the excitement and anticipation… then gettin there and meeting loads of like minded people who are all there to party hard… watching the sun come up in the morning.. is amazing…

I just love the fact that you can go and listen to good music without bouncers telling you what to do without the whole 3am that’s it folks no more… its all about the freedom to go and party for as long as you want (well as long as there is diesel for the genny) without anyone telling you what you can and cannot do…
Free parties do not mean free as in Gratis they are about the freedom to party… some people seem to forget this.. remember that for the organisers it is anything but free.. but we do it coz we love it……….

    Cheers Tink…:weee:

Been doing this shit for too long…..lol

The best rave I’ve been to was in high summer last year… I danced for 9 hours solid. (Well with the occasional chillout but you know what I mean!) When I started dancing it was 8pm and the sun was still high in the sky. Next thing I looked out the dance tent and – it was still sunny outside – then looked at my watch. It was 5am and I had danced all night. I couldn’t believe I still felt so bloody fantastic!

I love many things about raving: the dancing, the people, the stories you hear while chilling out, the drugs, the memories. I love the way people will just come up to you and tell you how wonderful you look; it’s a real feeling of community. As one Old Skool raver told me last year: “Every year I tell myself I’m giving up. And every year I find I can’t!” He was 45 and looked fantastically fit and healthy. Clearly years of raving haven’t done him any harm.

As the man also said. “Isn’t that why we came here? To get off our heads and dance??!!!

    PLUR

Getting out a taxi in the middle of nowhere, having no idea where your going. just listening out for the bass and following the sounds! wadeing through fields. wicked! :cloud9:

This website says alot about what I love about partys! Swikshire!

Only just joined the site and just been to one free party…at the moment. Was quite enthusiastic about the whole thing and so hence registered here, after reading this thread and generally looking round am well up for it, much more enthusiastic now, 2006 will be about attending some outdoor partys me thinks.

I know this is a simple answer, but when an event is free…it’s not hard to want to participate. I know at times I’m drawn back to pay for an event when I’m not 100% sure that I feel the talent is wirth paying for.

Free is a great word :alien_abd

Being out in the open air, close to nature with a good vibe.

    Feeling young again hehe:bounce_fl
