where r all the free parties? i live on dartmoor devon and from 1999 till 2002 there where free parties every summer up in some woods run by the forestry commision by a massive resivoir called fernworthy but the last 2 years it has been dead, the local raving commuity of dartmoor need more raves so please some one hear our call cos we need to keep the tradition of raving going in devon.

oh yeah, and if you can make it into exeter on sunday 12th december, the fat baby crew will be spinning some eclectic moosic at the North Bridge Inn.

Pipped to the post by globalloon…we did a party up by Fernworthy a few months ago. Unfortunately not too many turned up….but it gave us a chance to test out the site which I must say was very nice, especially when the sun came up!=o)

incidentally (and this applies to the whole UK) a nice young lady from Forestry Commission said to a few of us that they didn’t really have a problem with raves provided everything was cleared up and SSSI (sites of special scienfiic interest) did not get disturbed.

OTOH she was quite young and sympathetic ; others at FC have implied that if the old bill tell them to block a site they would co-operate because it meant the locals way of life was being disrupted, or claim we are frightening their rare animals / crapping on their plants etc.

simple solution for everybody : learn to read a map; borrow or get a GPS (they are a lot cheaper now) and plan your sites well! SSSIs are listed on the English nature website with an excellent web-enabled GIS system (electronic map) – avoid putting parties near them, they are there for a reason…

i’ve found some of them to be really sympathetic and even helpful!

others are little hitlers. luck of the draw, really. but if you know of one who is sound, keep them that way and we can all party longer and happier 😀

if you know one is sound, be sound back.

i have enough prolems from the forrestry commision they reported me to the pigs for riding my motox bike up on the moor by fernworthy i got in well big shit because i dident have a licence and when pigs turned up i was on the road not off road

they do get pissed off when you start taking bikes into the protected areas cos you can carve up what they are paid to protect.

many of the parties we’ve put on have been in forestry commission car parks… we don’t take vehicles beyond that, so apart from disturbing a few squirrels and birds sleep, hopefully there’s no permenant damage 😉
