Police seized 44 of the revellers’ cars for evidence and made nearly 20 initial arrests on suspicion of a variety of offences, including violent disorder, possession of drugs and burglary.
how do they get evidence from cars?
how do they get evidence from cars?
unlikely to be enough to get people put away for time or even to arrest anyone but just information to add to their databases, to link people with other events (including legal ones) and to prove the extent of the drugs culture associated with the rave scene
the feds have never liked parties since the start, they associate everything with drugs and crime and are always looking for info
also the seizure of cars is being done to shake up ravers and dissuade them from driving to illegal events – the same as the seize gary boys motors if they drive noisily or travellers types if they go harecoursing or stealing scrap metal..

sly bastards.
“As well as all the sound equipment, a number of vehicles were seized, and it is possible some of these will be crushed. We are looking at every power to dispose of these vehicles.”
although it was fuckin stupid to start a riot with the old bill, i think its completely out of order for the police to ‘sieze’ cars and crush them, whether they were organizing or merely attending the party.
we nearly had my mates car towed away once which would have left us 2.30 hours from home and my mate no car for a few days and a hefty bill.
i hate the idea that a small portion of my money is being used for this kinda shit when some simple legislation and education would help sort the problem 20x more and cost 20x less.
hope this incident hasnt ruined the rest of the years parties

its harsh but thats why they do it, they want to deter people from doing this sort of stuff and its also a reprisal to try and cause losses to the ravers for causing a loss to the company whose warehouse it was…
to “them” the only problem that needs sorting is that people were numpties enough to party that particular warehouse in the first fucking place
– a similar thing happened in 2003 with one of the (now defunct) Oxfordshire crews (in use warehouse got partied and the next unit along robbed) it was one of the incidents what brought things right on top in that part of Thames Valley and started off the zero tolerance and clampdowns
Before then from 1997-2002 you could party a warehouse every week and only get a couple of bobbies turning up… I even used to know people who lived in the warehouses between parties!
I know its harsh you lot are getting the worst of laws for offences that older people committed when you were all still in high school but thats how the system works – the only way now to keep parties going is to be smarter and much better organised
if I had been at that party I would have walked straight out once I knew it was in an in use warehouse, even if it meant wandering yarmouth sketchy and paranoid on my own waiting for the first train back home..
if the old bill crush the cars it will leve a bitter taste and could turn party goers more ‘hard core’
I don’t see how the violence would have any benefit! People go on about how they want tolerance of raves, but how can we seriously expect the authorities to tolerate raves when we cant even control ourselves.
Attacking the police is not going to move things forward for the rave scene, all it has done is pushed things backwards. It seems a lot of ravers have been left disheartened from the actions of the people at this rave in Yarmouth, Col doesn’t want to carry on with his letter to the MP and i don’t blame him.
It wasn’t long ago that the police car got done over in this area of the country, not that i am blaming Norfolk ravers as i am aware people travel to the raves.
Well it just looks like there are people out there who dont seem to care that they are fucking it up for everyone else………….
Also the actual warehouse didnt get partied, the rig was outside because the organisers found out when they got there that the warehouse was in use, but continued to set the party up outside!
It still would have taken up space belonging to other businesses – sometimes people have rush jobs or weekend working and need to get into an industrial unit quickly…
I don’t know what East Anglia is like for warehouse parties as I’ve not been involved in free parties for a few years but in SE England the better crews used to actually watch warehouses for months, have backup venues and move in in such a way that no one else on the industrial estates were inconvenienced
if you find a venue is in use (and that happened to some mates of mine on NYE a few years ago) the only solution is to pack up and find another venue, even at short notice. Yes it may even mean no party that weekend but thats better than riot squad, rigs taken and more clampdowns..
