  • No, I am not trying to take on the spammers at their own game and start selling them here[1], but whilst reading about dimensions I got sidetracked by the concept of measuring time in itself..

I’ve noticed a lot of people now use their mobile phone as a timekeeping device as well as for communications..

This is understandable as these days a phone displays a very accurate clock, often synchronised automatically to atomic time when your phone accesses the 3G/internet services)

But I still find it odd not to wear a watch…

In March my last digital watch which was already playing up gave up altogether when the clocks changed (it was one of those that has an MSF receiver [2]) and got stuck on some random time….

All I needed to do now was to wear a daft hat, start living in the middle of the forest with the dormice and hares and start inviting young girls to never-ending tea parties – but there seemed to be lots of people round here already doing this anyway so I just ended up getting another watch instead..

how many others here still wear a watch?

[1] although all I would probably have to do is ring one of my uncles and get a crate-load shipped over from Malaysia to the docks :laugh_at:

[2] this picks up the correct British time (slightly different to atomic time) from a radio transmitter up North somewhere..

not me, i didnt wear a watch before i had a mobile either, would just ask randoms for the time 😉

i dont, i loose watches and find them ncomfortable, i use my mobile fone, or the sun. i want to get another mobile fone, just to get a better camera(no other reason) i think mobile fones are wicked cos they have all you need, i dont like the ppl being able to ring you where ever you go tho, or the mobile tracking PPPPPAAARRRAAAANNNNOOOOIIIA

I never used to wear a watch, then i got given a chunky expensive one. Worn it for ages and feels odd if i dont have it on.

Also if you want to check the time quickly it easyer to look at your wrist, than it is to rumage through your pocket for your phone

Nah if i set mine to manage the time itself i suddenly get thrown back in time by many years :you_crazy

I’ve added a poll to the thread..

yep, thats what I find, especially when cycling (and obviously safer). I can make the display unit on my handlebars show the time, but you have to still press buttons and thats distractingf you from the road..

plus its seems to have got set to the time in Tokyo since I last changed the batteries and I can’t be arsed to change it in case I wipe out the wheel size settings as I then have to reprogram the whole thing again..

probably the mobile network doing something daft, or your phone timezone being set for another country..

havent worn a watch for years and years,

Got brought one at xmas and it is still in its box by the phone in the lounge…..

how much you want for, what make, what type

I am bad as it is an ’emily the strange’ design (brought specially for me) and my other half is offended I dont wear it but …….
Dont like watches – didnt ask for one ..

I can honestly say i have never worn a watch, knowing the time doesn’t seem that important to me which is probably why i’m so shit at keeping appointments.

I always used to wear a watch. Then about 9 years ago I started work in a factory which really used to drag. I found wearing a watch made it worse because I’d clock watch and the time would never have moved on very far.

So I took it off and never wore a watch again. Just use the mobile now. Although I do keep thinking about getting a watch again.

i used to be able to tell the exact time, without any clocks… i could even be woken up during the night and could tell what time it was within a minute or 3!!!

it was at a time in my life when i had no responsibilities and spent my days floating freely through the world, thinking about stuff like the universal connection between every single thing

i had a few wierd effects at that time, which at first i found surprising. then I met a sahdu, who explained that along the path to enlightenment, there are many abilites that are distractions from that path such as telepathy, seeing into the future; physical feats (fakirs) and my time telling ability was likely to be one of those

i can’t tell the time anymore (but i do still experience telepathy occasionally) and i still don’t have a watch

i got a casio one.old school from argos.i only bought it though because im so sick of not knowing what time it is and what day/date it is…

Just dropped my beloved watch on the tiled floor at work and shattered the lens 😥

Off to get a quote to have it repaired now :hopeless:

I don’t wear a watch since may be… 23 years…being chained to time seems not nice to me…

ive just got myself a ”guess” watch haha … very nice indeed
