there are real risks of innocent people getting targeted and guilty people with good lawyers getting off free due to claiming “entrapment / harrasment”.

If it affects someone you know, then get them to go to the Police or CEOP. even the MSN has the facility to automatically report this (its the “walking big brother eye” icon :laugh_at:).

This isn’t a game, but a job for trained investigators who can deal with the bigger picture. You could be dealing with dangerously mentally ill people – and if you wind someone up who is a genuine predator you may be actually encouraging them to carry out an act on an innocent victim out of spite. At least if the cops are doing a sting like this they would normally have a full physical surveillance op to make sure the stalker is themselves being stalked before they can target people in real life.

incidentally the biggest threat to young teenage girls in Europe isn’t “comedy foreign perverts” or even older men >30 but young men in their late teens or twenties who see absolutely no shame in what they are doing due to the permissive society.

yep provided they do that it will be OK, but even then it means they are essentially working for the Police. Of course in this context its not a bad thing, but theres always that dilemma of “at what point is grassing OK”, as well as the risk of wrecking an existing investigation.

TBH I still feel if you really want to do that then do it properly – I’m sure CEOP have vacancies and the person will get a proper Civil Service training including access to counselling/advice if required, it is actually emotionally hard on people doing that sort of work.

been going on for years unfortunately and its not just older men. the only reason its become an issue now is because the Internet is making people more aware.

My mum used to teach middle school / early high school aged kids and she said the young girls from age 9-13 told her horrendous stories of what went on and the levels of harrasment and that was from boys just aged 13-16 in the same schools. I don’t mean consenting relationships but stuff what would (and does) get lads arrested and rightly so.

The other “elephant in the room” is that the rave scene has traditionally been viewed by coppers/social workers as encouraging young teenage girls into getting with older blokes as “trophy girlfriends”, particularly of DJ’s and promoters. Many of these girls then go on to suffer serious substance abuse issues and emotional trauma or even end up in the “sex industry”.
