quality film, fucking dark tho.
same guy made This is England too if you’ve seen that?
yeah, thats the one Cliffy.
I saw This is England before, thats why I checked out Dead mans Shoes. That guy is a fucking brilliant director! I got well into the happy vibe in ‘england at the start, then the mood just completly swings all of a sudden when the guy gets out of prison. Really well done. raaa
He done any other good films?

Sweet mate, i think ill have a watch of Dead mans shoes in a bit! 😉
I hate drug films because almost all of them feel some need to get all moralistic by the end, like someone has to end up in jail or get murdered or prostitute themselves for drug money or overdose and die something in every single drug film…of course those things happen in real life but not to as many people as films suggest.
I want to see a drug film where taking drugs helps the main character come out of a depression, fix or find a relationship, make money and get away with it without any run ins with the police, fall in love and get married, even maintain a steady job while they’re taking lots of drugs .etc. That would be really bold; showing people get messed up by drugs is cliche and just panders to social conservatives.
Although its not a film, I think Six Feet Under’s portrayal of drug use is relatively balanced.
I haven’t seen some of those films, but i can say that trainspotting, easy rider, requiem for a dream are among my favourite.
didn’t like Spun though, found it quite boring and cliche actually. the acting was ok though
Six feet under portrayed this subject without being pretencious about it, it showed what could happen in a situation and different approaches to it, a possibility and not a moral unquestioned truth.
(how i miss this series!)
I would also suggest The Line of Beauty (3 episode bbc series). don’t know if any of you has mentioned it yet.
Best drugs film is lock stock and 2 dirty needles
I just saw this the other day. What a fantastic movie!
It really struck a chord with me,… a few of the ideas suggested in this film, I’d actually thought up myself, independently.
…It goes to show, …when it comes to existentialism, you can be sure that someone else will have thought of the same idea as you.
yeah waking life is a quality film. have you seen a scanner darkley, same sort of thing. i thought it was really good.
Yeah.
I actually saw A Scanner Darkly first. A very different film to Waking Life but with a very similar look with the rotoscoped animation. A lot more consistant detail has gone into Darkly though.
I’ve only seen it once, but one of the great things I took from the movie is the powerful sense of paranoia that it gives you.
It’s great when a movie does that well. … usually a drugs related movie. …Withnail & I, …Dead Babies … even that scene in The Matrix.
Fear and Loathing, it has got to be! That movie is an absolute gem.
some really good films to choose from but its got to be human traffic
dead mans shoes and this is england top films
I’d have to say south west 9 or rise of the foot soldier but they’re not up there either so blow
Smokers has got to be up there with the best … check it out it’s pretty new as well 😉
