Fear and Loathing no doubt, anyone seen Hunter S Thompsons other book that got made into a film, Where the Buffalo Roam?
Yeah, that’s a good film too. It’s been mentioned in this thread somewhere.
nah, I checked a few sources when he died and most of them point towards the same thing..
he was not a very well man by his 60s, with various long term health problems – he had also recently crashed his motorbike and hurt himself quite badly
as a regular drug user for years (including opiates) his tolerance would be so high that most painkilling drugs would have little effect, plus he was realising his mobility and freedom were being limited and this was making him negative and angry toward his family.
this was his suicide note..
“No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun — for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax — This won’t hurt”
Is a shame was a great writer, any reccomendations to his lesser known works?

From Linklater check:
Waking Life

Same technique (hell more visually trippy though) as A Scanner Darkly but more philosophical and also some great music.
Slacker

Much older, somewhat sociological and including quotes such as “the time doesn’t exist” and quite a lot of other references.
Salton Sea starring Val Kilmer. Yup. Hollywood got pretty close to the real life, present day, world of amphetamines. Spun ranks right up there with Salton Sea, but Spun is not quite as “believeable” (not that i believe movies or anything…). Love Salton Sea for the more involved story. I think its time to watch both again…!
Fear and Loathing FTW!! raaa
human traffic is the BEST!!!!:crazy_dru
City of God
Fear and loathing is quality, films you want to watch on a comedown tho are – The basketball Dairies, Requiem for a Dream and Kids (NOT! cause it’ll make you go:cry: and quite possibly:you_crazy ) I have seen Dead Babies, thought it was well good, fuckinjg weird tho, or that could have been the k attack i had just before hand!
Mine has to be Human Traffic, what a classic, reminds me of when I first started the whole clubbin’ scene & drugs etc!
I have seem fear & loathing a few times but I am afraid I couldn’t possibly tell you what happens as its what we all used to watch when we got back from the clubs! Great though, what I can remember!
