RIOT police broke up an illegal rave on the Ll£n peninsula yesterday after revellers turned on officers.
Around 300 people had gathered for an unauthorised party on National Trust land at Whistling Sands, Aberdaron in the early hours of Saturday.
Police officers ordered the party to disperse by midday on Sunday but when officers arrived to enforce the order, skirmishes broke out and members of the crowd threw objects.
One officer suffered a serious eye injury and had to be taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, a police spokes-woman said.
The force returned early yesterday in full riot gear to break up the party. They arrested three people and seized three vans containing hi-tech sound equipment. One resident claimed he had seen 23 police cars speeding to the scene.
A spokeswoman for the force said last night: "Information was received that the illegal rave party was taking place at the National Trust car park at Whistling Sands at Rhoshirwaun, near Aberdaron.
"Damage, noise from the sound system, high-powered lights from the stage and nuisance caused by partygoers' dogs were reported.
"Police attended the scene and the organiser of the event was given a direction under section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 to quit the land by 12noon on Sunday."
But, by the deadline, the ravers had shown no sign of being about to quit and continued their party.
A team of officers then returned to the scene, triggering a number of skirmishes between revellers and police.
The spokeswoman said: "The crowd grew hostile and individuals in the crowd started to throw missiles."
Finally, riot police in full protective gear raided the car park at 8am yesterday morning, supported by the force's helicopter.
By this time the National Trust beauty spot was strewn with rubbish.
"Police quickly took control of the situation," the spokeswoman said.
"A few minor skirmishes were soon quelled.
"During the morning, those attending the rave gradually left the site, the last leaving at about 1pm."
One resident, who asked not to be named, said the ravers appeared to be "new age travellers" and said car windows had been smashed.
Deputy chief constable Clive Wolfendale, who accompanied the riot police yesterday, said: "People have made a disgusting mess of a very beautiful part of the Ll£n peninsula.
"They were asked politely to move and responded by throwing missiles, seriously injuring one officer."
Control of the car park was passed back to National Trust officers at around 2pm yesterday, a spokes-woman confirmed.12

After endless talks with the Thai authorities they finally arranged an official allowance to do an open air party. Normal for Thailand is a closing time of 2h in the morning with the exceptions of full-moon and black-moon parties. But for Greenspirit an allowance is present for a 30h party!
The event is well organised and well connected with the local Thai psy scene so you can expect unforgetable moments! This party also carries the hope to show the local authorities of the positive sides of the trance scene since they usually connect electronic music with cheap techno, drugs and red light district dancing. "Greenspirit" is applying to the source idea of dance - the unifying ritual under stars approaching the sunrise. Let's use this chance and have a festival of love! Krabi is placed in the south of Thailand and is well known by his "James Bond" rocks, vast beaches and it's underwater paradise. From Bangkok you take the only south route of the Thai railway until Suratthani and continue by Bus to Ao Nang.
Since a short while Krabi has it's own Airport and can easily be reached from Bangkok or Singapur.
Everything is readily available and the costs of living is very low. It's only a short travel to Koh Phangan where the famous Full Moon and Black Moon parties are still happening. Family always around!

Teenager’s TRAGIC FALL at Rave an Accident THE death of Arlesey teenager Sophie Ksher was an accident, a coroner has ruled.
The inquest was held into the death of Sophie, 16, who died after falling at a rave in High Wycombe in February.
Sophie had travelled 70 miles to the rave with her 29-year-old boyfriend Andrew Lester.
She had gone to live with Mr Lester the previous August against her parents' wishes and despite their best attempts to bring her home.
Coroner Nicholas Gardiner heard last Thursday how Sophie had fallen to the concrete floor during the rave at around 2.30pm on Sunday, February 1 and hit her head.
She was carried to an office where she started convulsing. An ambulance was called and Sophie was taken to Wycombe General Hospital.
She was later transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where she slipped into a coma and died five days later.
Sophie was later found to have consumed ecstasy, cannabis and amphetamines.
Recording a verdict of accidental death, Mr Gardiner said: "It's very obvious to me that she had consumed ecstasy and possibly other drugs.
"I'm satisfied that it's very likely that she wouldn't have had the fit had she not."
But he also slammed the use of the phrase "recreational drugs" used by Det Sgt Russ Murden of Thames Valley Police as he gave evidence of the police investigation.
Mr Gardiner said: "I dislike that expression intensely. There is nothing recreational about taking drugs that might kill you.
"The only advice I can offer is don't take drugs."
Mr Lester failed to turn up to give evidence.
Verdict: Accidental death.
n Sophie's family did not attend the inquest because they claim that they were not informed of the date by police.
They have since stated they would have liked to attend to try to answer some of the many questions they have over Sophie's death.
A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police contacted the Ksher family in writing and on the telephone four weeks ago that the inquest would be taking place.
"If the family have any concerns surrounding the way in which they have been informed of developments they should contact the Oxford coroner's officer.

to make love or war Fighting for peace may appear to be an oxymoron however all things of great achievement, value and worth with it's ensuing rewards, come from a struggle to overcome and at a price. The struggle for peace may well require the overthrow of an opressor, it may be paid for in the blood of sons and daughters. Future acts of violence may also be required to protect it.
However if a nation is not prepared to sacrifice and fight to keep/protect the values it holds dear, then can and do it's citizens really appreciate what it is they stand to lose or gain,do they appreciate what it is to have peace? (after many years of civil unrest societies tend to normalise conflict and seek more of the same through lack of any remembered norm). How do they re-learn to be peaceful and then value it enough to fight to keep it (metaphorically or literally)?
Having said that, all nations have a fundamental right to self determination, but in an imperfect world where centuries old conflict (the religion thing)will never go away sometimes you have to fight for your rights lest ye be laid waste by thy own hand.

Nice one John About time someone stood up and said it...to be fair I think there are a lot of other people in the media who share his views and even loath the projects they are working on for the same reasons; but jobs are hard to keep and there is so much competition so they can't afford to speak out..
I'd disagree about Banzai though - that can be quite funny and I don't find it racist or anything like that (its intended as a satire of Japanese TV); and I do have oriental ancestry! (I am one of the few people who can tell that Bert Kwouks "Engrish" accent is South Chinese rather than Japanese :D )

BBC Radio 4 news presenter John Humphrys has attacked British reality television as "seedy, cynical and harmful" to society.
Humphrys, who presents the Today programme, told an audience of media executives at the Edinburgh Television Festival on Friday night that "some of our worst television is indeed indefensible".

He called for greater regulation of terrestrial television and even possible government intervention to ensure standards are maintained.
The three-day festival is host to the most important figures in British television, and features talks and seminars given by the heads of Channel 4, Five, Sky and the BBC.
Humphrys used the prestigious McTaggart lecture to say reality TV "eroded the distinction between the public and the private, which is a profoundly important aspect of our culture".
He called Channel 4's hit show Big Brother "damaging" and said the most recent show had "bequeathed us a legacy; the way to get ratings is to get evil".

People who wanted to watch reality television could do so on subscription channels but society should "limit the harm" by stronger regulation of commercial channels by the government, he said.
The Cardiff-born presenter said TV was now "a battle between people who are concerned about society and those whose overwhelming interest is simply to make programmes that make money".
Humphrys also warned that news coverage of politics should not be made "more fun" in an attempt to boost public interest.

He said he disagreed with the former BBC director general Greg Dyke who said it was the broadcaster's job to make politics less boring by making the coverage less boring.
"We shouldn't be trying to lure [viewers and listeners] into politics by pretending that it's just another game show.
"Greg got it wrong," he said.
And as the presenter on Radio 4 when Andrew Gilligan's news report into the government's Iraq dossier unleashed a storm of controversy, he said news needed "more, not less in-depth interviewing of politicians".

In a thinly-veiled dig at the BBC's measures taken since the Hutton report criticised the BBC's approach to news, he said mistakes would always be made "however many notes we take and however many people we send back to college".
He told the conference he has not watched television for the last five years, but said he had based his opinions on watching programmes sent to him by executives as examples of the best of the medium.
He praised programmes such as Channel 4's Operatunity and the BBC's Life of Mammals, saying he had been "informed, entertained and deeply moved by some of what I've seen".

"I've been reminded that television... can help maintain the momentum that takes us from barbarity to civilisation".
But he said a "vast amount of the rest is simply mediocre" and did not tell the audience if his recent viewing would mean he would become a regular viewer again.
The veteran broadcaster expressed incredulity that programmes such as Your Face or Mine, The Pilot Show, Banzai and Nip/Tuck were considered quality television.
Examples of good television "cannot pay the dues of the bad when the bad is indefensible", he added.

And television was "more aggressive and confrontational" and "vulgar and obsessed with sex" than he remembered.
He warned that such television could "coarsen" and "brutalise" and said the level of aggression he found in soaps "fits my definition of harmful - especially given that they're broadcast pre-watershed".
He also admitted that the BBC produced its share of rubbish and quality programmes - the corporation's responsibilities were greater than they have ever been, he added.
