WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE UK FREE PARTY SCENE ????????????? does anyone on this fourm go to raves around the uk ? the free partys recently seem to be let down a lot of the time by the wrong crowd turning up, don't get me wrong the more friendly faces the better but when people are coming for the wrong reasons and looking for trouble, I would hate the scene to be completely taken over by people trying to make money and rip people off. is there any old school free partys still going on in the uk ?? I still occasionally go to a great one with proper ravers but mainly I turn up and it is people trying to be rudeboys and kids trying to get as messed up as possible and just coming for the drugs, I would love to know if there are still real raves going on :(

JOHN DOPPING: WORDS IN COLOUR TOUR
John Dopping has been carving his career carefully and methodically since his first outing on Digital Society Recordings in 2010, when Activa, the founder of Borderline Music, remixed his debut single The Mind.
From that point John has worked closely with Activa and Borderline Music, drawing together plans for an artist album that gave John the freedom and flexibility to create something that is as breathtakingly intricate as it is expertly crafted for the the dance floor.
The result is Words In Colour, a body of work that showcases not only John's melodic intelligence, but also his standards of production quality.
In 2013 the first single, ‘Aryl’ was released, and early 2014 saw the emergence of the 'Words In Colour' EP, which included ‘Basically.’ All of the tracks gained support from the likes of Paul Oakenfold on his Planet Perfecto and Full On Fluoro radio shows, and Yahel with the release of ‘Full On Fluoro Vol. 2’.
The album is a sublime journey of melodic electronic music, from the breakbeat hybrid 'The Fire Behind,’ through to melodic forces like 'Basically' and 'Where Do I Begin,' the serene ambience of 'Kayafly' and the acid fuelled 'Introspection'.
In an industry where often 'simple and loud' serve to overbear quality and subtlety, John Dopping provides a welcome alternative; the chance to sit back and think.
Let your mind wander and your senses fill.
This is Words In Colour.

JP : Japanese profs win Nobel Physics prize for blue LEDs I just about remember reading about them in Electronics and Wireless World in 1987 these dudes had made blue LEDs; they appeared on the market in the 1990s but were something like £8 per unit; it was a sign of extra "bling" to get a Japanese hi fi with blue LED indicators.
Today strong bright LEDs of all colours are that cheap if I am running them on 12V its not a big extra cost to add a extra LED and reduce the limiter resistor when you take into account the time/effort of soldering the assembly...
If anything these profs should have got the prize years ago...

Laboratory-Grown Penises Ready To Be Tested In Humans There's still hope boys :laugh_at:
Scientists at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine could be offering new hope to men with genital abnormalities or injuries in as little as five years, thanks to one of their many tissue engineering endeavors: lab-grown penises. While that may sound a little far-out, these guys are among the world leaders in regenerative medicine and they’ve achieved some remarkable things in the past. Back in 1999, they became the first in the world to successfully implant a lab-grown organ into humans—a bladder. Since then, they’ve transplanted engineered vaginas into women born with defects or without vaginas entirely, and have started working on growing tissues and organs for more than 30 different areas of the body.
Team leader Anthony Atala began this genital journey back in 1992, but it was not until 2008 that the scientists proved transplanting engineered penises was theoretically possible. Having spent a considerable amount of time working out the best way to engineer these tricky organs, the team managed to grow 12 functioning penises for rabbit subjects. After grafting them on to the recipients, all tried to mate with a female, eight successfully ejaculated, and four produced offspring. While these results were certainly encouraging, gaining approval for human trials is another kettle of fish. However, Atala is confident that it could be granted by the FDA within five years if they can prove the technique is safe.
So how do they do it? They first obtain a donor penis and strip all the cells from it with a detergent. The researchers are then left with a collagen scaffold which they then seed with a combination of cultivated smooth muscle and endothelial cells from the recipient. Using the patient's own cells eliminates the risk of immunological rejection that often occurs when transplants are given from another individual. However, because the cells are taken from the male’s genitals, it means that the procedure could not be used for female-to-male sex reassignment surgery.
The team has already engineered six human penises that are ready for transplantation; if approval for trials is granted and they prove to be a success, the researchers hope that they could be used all over the world to help people with a variety of problems. In particular, they envisage them being used in men who have suffered from traumatic injuries, for example those returning from the battlefield. However, they could also be used in individuals withcongenital abnormalities, or children born with a disorder known as ambiguous genitalia. In the majority of instances, boys born with this condition are given a sex-change at birth, which can lead to serious psychological problems throughout life.
This technique also offers a vast improvement from existing penis replacement options, which are far from ideal. The procedure involves constructing a penis from thigh or forearm tissue and then inserting a prosthetic inside in order to achieve sexual function. The prosthetic is either a permanently rigid rod that is difficult to conceal, or an inflatable rod that requires a pump.
Although the team is hoping to be able to replace entire penises when they initiate trials, they think that a more realistic goal is to start with partial replacements, for example helping patients with erectile dysfunction.

Well done women I just watched a video of a woman climbing 3 of the hardest rock climbs any woman has done. Climbing 1 would be amazing, climbing 3 astounding. These are climbs the big boys make their names on and are seriously scary (I've been to and looked at all 3). This won't thrill everyone but to see women pushing the limits everywhere is fantastic. No bullshit, no sarcasm, just seriously, whatever it is you do, you're starting to give men a run for their money.

Silk Road?.. Come on, this is 2014! If one thing is for sure, Tor and the Silk Road has changed the international drug market forever.
When Silk Road was shut down last fall, the FBI estimated that over $1.2 billion in profit was generated over roughly two and a half years and $23 billion worth of bitcoins have been traded over the market.
That means that in that time, a quarter of all purchases made with bitcoins were made on the Silk Road.
Since the federal government shut down the Silk Road, the Silk Road 2.0 has opened up for business and this website promises that it won’t make the same mistakes that led to destruction of the first one. Now, most users agree the illegal activity is back and better than ever but not because of Silk road 2.0 but instead because of the competition that has been given a chance to step onto the newly opened market.
The Silk road 2.0 was produced fast to replace the original as quickly as possible and this has lead to some flaws. Some of the major ones include, a hack that stole all users Bitcoin's stored on the site and in incomplete escrow transactions. This problem resulted in them removing there escrow service which in turn, lead to many scammers flocking to the site. Since this, they have repaid 85 percent of users lost funds however, These mistakes have led users and sellers to look elsewhere.
Mainly, the Agora Marketplace, They have been stably running on the Deepweb for substantial period of time and have lots of work in the production and security of the site and learning from all the problems of previous black markets.
To become a seller you must provide accurate history of your selling records on previous black markets or put down a deposit to be used to pay back buyers in case of a attempt to rip them off, they offer full escrow, there funds have never been hacked, and they give a percent of all there profits to the users for all the buyer/sellers they bring to the site. This stable system has since led to most major black market sellers to look past the revolutionary trial era of The Silk Road and unto easier more advanced options.
With all the new option available today, The FBI shutting down the Silk Road has had a reverse effect of what they intended. The online drug market stronger than ever, there are now more people than ever before buying illicit goods from a whole range of different sites on the Deep Web and with the increased competition, at cheaper prices.
The FBI will have their hands full trying to take down dozens of new marketplaces just like the Silk Road and if they do, will it even make a difference? I think not.
Just another perfect example of the joke the government calls, the war on drugs.
helooooo hi im 20 and live in Norfolk, im new to the forum and have some questions probably best answered by other ravers or like minded people :weee: help a brother out xxxx
