TBH I do think driving while on any type of drugs is just as bad as drink driving, but surely there must be a limit. I mean they can’t just bust you for being stoned…surely you must be too stoned to drive.

As its much like drinking beer…dependin on how much you drink or smoke, your ability to drive is inhibited accordingly.

Obviously its a bit more difficult to moderate as they can hardly say…1 joint or whatever. As you could probably gettin away with smoking your own bodyweight in soap bar, but they must somewhere have some sort of parts per thousand measurement….

Just a thought.

I dunno how they’ll set the limits here, but in Germany, if you test positive then you are arrested – even if you haven’t smoked that day or have nothing on you.

A French friend of ours fell foul of this law at the Strasbourg Protest and was held at the police station for 4 hours and fined 400 euros.

I expect it wil be much the same. Unlike alcohol these drugs are illegal EU-wide so the punishment is for having the illegal drug as well as driving.

Incidentally I read somewhere (probably one of the IT techie websites or a crime news site) that traffic cops of UK, DE, FR, ES and (I think) IT are finally starting to link up systems for vehicle tracking / info sharing in preparation for EU-wide traffic monitoring.

The blue bit on your numberplate with the country code and the EU stars is part of this; it was put there so the computers linked to road cameras can instantly (and more quickly) work out which country your car is from.

That said at the moment if you are legal there isn’t much to worry about; TBH I reckon its main use will be for road toll charging for long distance lorry drivers. OTOH who knows what else it could be used for..

OTOH if the EU social control/monitoring/immigration rules (all are linked) were really as tight as some people (even ravers) seem to want them to be, things could have been way different…

If you are tested and its positive for drugs, say nothing and wait for a solicitor, as most drugs are in the system for several days there cannot be a supposition that you are unfit to drive unless you are an idiot and admit to being high/stoned!
cannabis stays in the system for weeks, so in order to have a chance of conviction they would need a series of tests over time with depleting levels of a drug to have a chance of unsafe driving conviction.

this does not hold for opiates as it is illegal to drive with any in your system at any time as anyone on a script will know (though you can get permission with medical evidence if you are stable on a long term script)

otherwise this is rubbish and just because there are test cases going through globally dosen’t mean diddly.

the inference is on the police to prove you are unfit to drive seek legal advice and say nothing.

Nice 1, will keep this in mind.
Mate of mine got tested this time last year, aint heard nothing since!
Another mate got caught sat in his car gettin stoned and yeah they nicked him but didnt even test him! they even had the courtesy to give him a lift back to his car so he could drive home blazed to fuk!

Actually thought i was the only one with that oppinion,a drug is a drug no matter if you eat it,drink it,or worse..Dont think my reflexes were to good when i had taken drugs(dont anymore)and it didnt matter what kind of drugs it was..

Ok so yeah it does slow your reactions but i’ve smoked dope for years so i can do somethings better stoned n anyway, i always hit the brakes in time! lol

I have a friend there is an alcoholic who say the same thing.He drives better when he have had somthing to drink..Are you guys serious ??
