I was walking from work to do the ciggi run … minding my own business possibly even whistling when this just caught my eye in a shop window and by the way this is no prank … i asked the lady behind the counter …

I was curious as to wheather it was fake after seeing a similar article on a bench in the south of france, some guy had apparently lost his giraffe so i asked was it for real … she seemed pretty shocked …

One of the lads in my village keeps loads of birds of prey for displays, pest control, weddings, hunting etc and he was for ever loosing loads of them when he was a bit of a piss head.

Mot sure if this is some sort of old fertility tradition or because many birds have elaborate courting rituals [1] and mate for life…
how come? as far as I can tell from researching history the old falconers would regularly imbibe “goodly store of mead and wine” and not lose track of their hawks/owls etc…..
they didn’t have radio trackers until very recently either (the valves and 100 volt battery would have weighed down the birds too much :laugh_at:)
unless the birds are in fact smarter than he is…
[1] in fact a pair of small birds (species unknown) circling each other low on the ground caused me to have to make an emergency stop today…
